is there such a thing as having too strong of a ruck combo? i got sandi - cox and hope not too change them at all by the end of the year but alot of people on hear as well as dr dt on the afl site are saying you should go a premium and a lower priced ruck? thoughts anyone?

Entirely up to you. I'm a fan of just locking your ruck combo and not having to think of it ever again. I don't think its a deal breaker either way

Blueboys

It comes down to who the rookies are in the ruck. Last year NicNat was on most teams as a nice upgrade to prem ruck later in the year.

You could do the same with Petrie.... :-\

For me I like to lock in 2 prem rucks, your options in the ruck are very limited so why not lock in 2 prem players and have them locked and loaded.

Then you can work on your other lines.  ;D

Bak2Form

sounds good think i might keep them then ;)

i was going a sandi/petrie combo with now with him rubbed out and cox being undervalued, the boys from the west will hopefully have me locked and loaded for the yr.

while there are some good value rucks, i agree locking in 2 guns and hopefully not having to think about them again is a good thing.

DG

i agree with the locking in two prem rucks, its good to not have to worry at all about your rucks from the beginning. The issue this year too is the sub rule and rucks potentially having more TOG, the 2nd string rucks may end up being rotated week by week to allow them to rest, this prob wont happen with the no 1 rucks.

Mish

reason people like having 1 prem and 1 2nd string ruckman is because the 2nd ruckman could be a cash cow or a pottential keeper.

LF

lock and leave barring LTI
so your not wasting trades in your rucks.then you can concentrate on the rest of your team.

Yeah, but lets say you pick up Seaby (for example) and he starts scoring 60-70 a week, will get you some good cash but you will still want to upgrade him, and if cox is spitting out 80-90 then you will just waste a trade you could have used elsewhere.

Premiums or not, you should be trying to pick the two ruckmen who you think are going to score the most for the year, you dont really want to be wasting a trade on rucks who are not going to give you the returns of your premium midfielders.

Holz

i always feel its a waste to start 2 premium rucdks for me i have gone cox petrie as the 200k i saved on going petrie over sandilands has enabled me to save a trade elsewhere upgrading a mid price player to a superstar. Also if your going for an overall win sandi is not a great pick due to the round 6 bye.

Sandi and Cox very good combo with a potential 200 point score for $750K outlay seems ok to me

i would rather pay 550k for 170 points and make the 30 points up else where
