Well he is out for 2-3 weeks. People without him are loving it. But for the rest of us what do we do? Its a lot of money to have on the bench. Do we trade him and then buy him back or is this a waste of trade. Its just people will only have a rookie to fill in so over 3 weeks will be about 200 points down. What are people going to do?

Pweter

I'm keeping him, no doubt. Your next best group of players should be in the absolute elites of the comp so you should still get a decent score from your captain, you just need to think about who that will be from week to week. Not worth using 2 trades I don't think.

If you're desperate, look at who your playing over the next few weeks. If they have Ablett, you're probably all going to be in the same predicament.

You could trade a rookie in and grab coughlan

bjrouse

Why trade him out.
As Pweter said, think about who will be your captain each week and you will be fine.
Coughlan seems as the best possible upgrade for Beams

I have Ziebel on the bench, im just going to play him and make Reiwaldt my skipper, if not him Bartel,Cox,Fisher???Maybe Gamble on Biddy being skipper this week??

I agree!!

Its easy to trade ablett and get the best midfielder out there but what happens if that player gets injured or even performs poorly and loses you $$$. Then you have more problems to deal with.

Couglhan is by far the best trade for Beams.

I'm surprised by the advice so far.  My view is that if your trying to maintain a high overall ranking or top 4 spot in your league, then you have to trade him.

Why?  Because those that make the tough call will get 2 keepers in their team and pass you by in the next 4 weeks.

If Geelong say 2-4 weeks, then assume 4.  Remember they want him cherry ripe for the finals so will treat his rehab very conservatively.

You could say "what if one of the new players gets injured" but you could say that about any proposed trade.  Protect your other trades, cross your fingers and trade him back in when he returns if you want.

With the position I am in he's now my 3rd midfield injury and I am already playing both Rich and Dangerfield.  I can't see how I can not trade him?

I think I have to trade him with Beams injured and Robinson dropped I have no option but to trade...
Bugger unless I trade Robinson for Cockie put him on field and get Goodwin for Skippy forward

Let me qualify one thing .... IF I had decent cover on my bench I might feel differently

But I don't.  Right now I am looking at a big black hole in my points and relying on an injury time estimate from the Geelong Football Club!  :o

Trade ablett for sure 3-4 weeks is a killer for a keeper especially if you have a few trades up yoursleeve...

Ablett for Judd save 200k

trade Rich in 4 weeks when ablet has played 2 games his breakeven is 220 and will drop 0k if he scores 120 in his return you will pick him back up for 675k

Perfect for 6 keepers for midfields

Bo

Your mistake was putting him in your team in the first place. I'd get rid of him now, you can pick him up again later for chp if he picks up form.
