At first I was thinking Swallow would be an automatic lock in all teams. After thinking about it, maybe not so much. I can see him averaging perhaps 75-85 tops. Although he will most likely play all season, at close to 190k there are so many options who could all average the same, perhaps more, for a lot less base price.

If he can prove to me in the NAB that he can score 85+ he will be in my team.
hit the nail on the head there mate ;)
if he isnt a keeper how much can he earn with an 80k handicap...

Dont have either Swallow or Bennell.
Didnt have Scully or Trengrove either and was just fine.
Did have Pods, Rocky & Barlow though ;)

would have done a lot better with them though.....strange comment, very strange indeed....

I started Barlow and Martin last year. Both of these players outscored Trengove & scully. Didn't start any other rookies though.

Bastinac, who was a lot cheaper had a higher overall score than scully and trengove.

Howlett averaged only 3 points less than Martin and was a lot cheaper.

This year there are a lot more options, especially with more mature agers coming through.

The argument FOR choosing top draft picks is: Even though there might be other rookies who are a lot cheaper and have similar avgs, top draft picks play most games. Trengove played 19, Scully and Martin 21.

Maybe but you can't really be sure of that without seeing the rest of his starting team and considering several other factors. As tferrier said, Bastinac outscored both Scully and Trengove so it's possible and even likely (given Barlow and Martin's output also) that the best possible starting line-up did not contain either Trengove or Scully.
