Luke Power (and other cheap premiums)

So I've just went through a brutal two trades - one for Hille, and another for Dalziell. Yes I had him, I had optimism ;)

I picked up Bartel through Dalziell, as he is on the cheap now. Now I'm looking to the future still, for more GOOD value trades coming up. How does Luke Power look? He is one of few premium players who has dropped significantly in price, about -$108,000. Perhaps he's sore, or just in poor form, but thats tantilising.

I have Luke Ball, and I dont think he's going to pick up - still recovering (and I didnt take that into consideration when I picked him) - so maybe Power is a good cheap pick over him? A sideways trade in price, but with a lot of potential.

OR... Ball will come good.

I already have Hodge, he'll come good soon.

Colty

Get on Power for sure, I would if I could.

evawes1

Yeah, it looks so good. I just don't want to 'waste' a trade by getting rid of a player who is just underperforming at the moment (Ball).

Is the trade worth it for Power?

Is this sideways trade just as good as me trading out a rookie and using that cash to go up to a higher premium mid - because Power will step up to that quality anyway?

Dees for the Draft

I'd hold onto the trade.

Power's averaging 91 with a BE of 145

Ball is averaging 90 with a BE of 100, so he's not doing too badly.

This round has shown how important trades are though, so consider it carefully.

If you really want to make the trade, wait another week or two.

it's not wasting a trade - it's a pretty big upgrade

get Luke Power for sure

evawes1

Ok, thats a high BE for Power - ill hold out for now. I'm out of trades this week anyway - two major injuries - ill reassess next week, and perhaps bring on the Power!

antman

you should be right to sit on the ball this week

micklovin

power will come good, everythings pointing to it, but maybe wait off just 1 more week, coz lets face it 145 is a bi score in anyones language... except gabletts!

ball might get 110 and power his average of 90, then he becomes even more of a bargain!

evawes1

I don't trust Ball to produce any big scores this year - or at least any time soon - maybe a maximum of 120. Power on the other hand can produce some big ones, and keep them over 100. When he picks it up.

POWER!

Bo

Bally is just simmering along. He'll explode soon. He's not working hard enough just now because the team is winning easily and he's just cruising along just doing the clearance and tackle thing. If they are under the pump though, he'll go nuts, but when that happens is anyones guess. He got 170 odd in a game last year, so the potential is there.

Ball will definetly go up in price, he started off slowly last year too from memory. Dont waste a trade.

evawes1

Mmmmmmmm, maybe. He's the only one not joining the Saints party.

While we are on the subject of players going cold at Brisbane, Black and Bradshaw have both come down a lot. I think these to might be worth having a look at of course with Power on this list as well. Didn't Black have some kind of injury concern at the start of the season? Does he still have this problem?

Ok, I've just had the BEST idea.

In 2 weeks time: trade Daniel Rich to Luke Power.

WHOA, ok hear me out. Power's BE is going to be high for the next 2 round because of his rubbish score in round 5. In round 6 his BE is something like 145, and even if he scores 100-120 this round, his BE still be around 120 for round 7 (is that right?).

I anticipate his price dropping for 2 rounds - unless he produces monsters. Rich has been playing well, and its not unreasonable that he will continue an 80-odd average.

Within two weeks I believe this will bring their prices within range - Rich will jump to $400k, and Power will drop the low $400k. ITS TIME TO POUNCE ON THE POWER!

Rich has gained so much value, and Power has lost a lot. If we assume that Power will bounce back, and Rich will remain the same - then thats a good trade yeah? The trade will have converted a $100k player into a $500-550k player. Assuming good form, of course.

Doing that will give me 6 'premium' midfielders. I have Bartel, Joel Selwood, Ball, Winderlich, Gibbs, Rich - with Beams and Ottens on bench.

Hmmmmmmmm! Rich would be upgraded at some point right? Might as well jump on the seriously undervalued player. Either thats the best trade of the season - or the worst idea so far.

This is just a thought but with Brisbane not having any quality ruckman due to injury could this possibly effect powers scores. I mean it could possibly cost 3-4 possessions a game without getting good first use of the ball from the ruck and this might be the difference between averaging 90 odd points to averaging 100 odd points. Just a thought but if you can get him at $400,000 then it will be worth it.
