Michael Hibberd

Summary

Pick #4 in the Pre-season draft for the Bombers, Hibberd will come to Essendon as a promising 21 year old who won the Fothergill Round Medal for the VFL's most promising player. Michael Barlow, Aaron Davey, and Michael Firrito are past Fothergill Round Medal winners.

Hibberd is a versatile defender who will find a lot of the ball and can win one-on-one's. He can pretty much play anywhere on the park.

The Crystal Ball

Based on m0nty's fanplanner

Price: $87,500

Position: DEF

Bargain if he can get games, which I think he will. Could he be a Barlow??

Decision

At that price, it's hard to ignore him, so he's a definite Short Lister. I like what I've read of him, and considering how poor Frankston were this year, he must have been an absolute stand out to win the Fothergill Round Medal. He beat the likes of Cam Richardson as well, so I will be watching him in the pre-season.

Will you select Hibberd next season?

Cheap defenders is something we all crave. Agree Fletch, short listed for me!

well Fletch i can't disagree with you, you make him look really good, i would consider him in the future especially after what you said about winning Fothergill Round Medal and it's past winners :D

Indeed. Happy we actually got a Half Back Flanker which we really needed. Shortlisted definately. Hopefully we can use him and Heppell early as they both look to be really good talents to help out our Defence and Midfield running.

Boomz

Depends... if Heppell is only a back & he is too then I'll only choose 1. Hopefully Heppell is MPP though :D

Junktimer

unlikely for me.  i reckon there are much better defence rookie options than him.

however i will watch NAB cup and if he is good i may reconsider.

Hawka

short list for me got good potential and with the bombers rebuilding should get a fair amount of games

pyronerd
