for DT leagues there are byes at Rounds 4, 5, 6, 16 & 19.  If you want to win your league, preferably pick players from bris, freo, melb or syd as they wont score you any donuts as far as league ranking refers (after r2 pick adelaide, r9 Gold and so on).  Avoid players from north, gee, car & ess as these players wont contribute any points in one of the four final rounds (if you want to win yr league).  If you want to win the competition outright, each AFL team will have 2 byes each so just choose your best posible team as per last year as the bye round scores at Rounds 4, 5, 6, 16 & 19 will still count.

Rounds 4 to 6 will be boring as far as the league rankings are concerned.

ie we really need two teams, one to score the maximum points (win the comp outright) and one designed to win yr league.

Indeed heidiian, its gonna be hard to do well in both.

It's going to be impossible to do well in both .. that's why we need two divisions of the game .. one without any league structure for those that are trying to win the car and then the normal leagues .. organizers need to get this sorted ASAP

It will only be for one year though, doubt they'll change it.

If people are going for the overall prize, they need to organise a league just with people going for the overall prize! Problem solved.

or they could not be in any league at all  :)

You would only avoid the premium guys from north, gee, car & ess, if you went with the rookies from the start they will go up in price quicker and they would have completed their job and would be traded out by the end of the season.

However with Geelong you can have the premiums in your side as long as you finish top four in your league and win the first week of the finals that way you will have the week off in the second round of finals which is when Geelong has their bye.

This is true Sluga, I'd also watch out for the teams that have 2 byes in the regular season also
