If anything, the rule changes will make it easier to be competitive if you know what you're doing - I play fantasy Rugby League and there are rounds where half of the teams have byes and the ones that are playing have State of Origin players missing, so having a few weeks where 3 teams have a bye is no big deal at all - just don't load up on players from the same club (or clubs in 3-team bye rounds), work your trades around the byes and pick a few MPPs and you should be fine

yep, this year will separate those who research and those who don't!  And it will be more important to use MPP to advantage.

An even spread of players from all teams, and a bench that plays each week will be far more important than MPP.

True but also if your bench is playing every week & some of them ARE mpp all the better too.
