Once the prices came out, it seemed like EVERYONE was on the Drew Petrie bandwagon.
Looking at some teams, he seems to have been left out of a few.

Is he essential to have in the side come round 1?

Are there better options for cheap rucks (e.g Z.Smith) or is he a must with his MPP?

Thoughts?

I don't have him at the moment. Wanted set and forget rucks and I don't think he can give me that. I prefer Krak over him as my cheap forward and my forward line looked brittle with both.

So no, not at the moment, but we will see.

suspended rd 1 play rd 2 bye rd 3 freo at freo rd 4 has got him on the outside looking in imo...

i am not wasting a trade bringing him in, he is in my 33..

agree with alex.

i had him in my fwd with joel tippet as 4th ruck so i could use petrie to cover sandi and cox when they had byes.

after i read zac smith with play most of this year i am happy to have him as cover so i traded out petrie and found cash and upgraded him to yarran.

I look it at like this.
Sandilands is clearly the number one ruck.
There is no clear number 2 ruck. Cox, Ryder, Mumford, Jolly et all are good but may not average 100 this year.
As such why spend the $ in the ruck...get Petrie and hopefully he will perform reasonably and perhaps even match the points that the aforementioned do at a cheaper outlay.
Spend the saved dollars elsewhere on proven premiums who are likely to outscore the second rucks!
Smith (GC) is a safe benchy who will cover for Petrie (though not in R1) so ensure you're other cheap benchy is named in R1and you're laughing.
As for putting him forward...at his price it makes sense but to me logically the ruck is his go. Heaps of others can score well in the forwards...not many do as second rucks.
