Luke Tapscott

Summary:

From Melbourne assistant coach Josh Mahoney...

Quote from: Josh Mahoney
Luke hurt his hip early in pre-season and we opted for him to have a hip operation. He started to play through the middle of the year and showed all the signs in the games he did play that we were hoping to see. We are looking forward to him having a good pre-season and playing more games.

Tapscott was in many coaches plans for the start of the 2010 season, before injury in the preseason caused coaches to flock off him. He again maybe in coaches plans for this year, as he was a high draft pick and has showed great potential in the VFL. Described as a mature-bodied half-forward/midfielder, with great kicking efficiency and strong contested play, Tapscott sounds perfect for Supercoach.

The Crystal Ball:

Based on m0nty's fanplanner

Price: $87,500

Position: FWD

He is very cheap, and Dean Bailey's youth policy is well known. A good preseason should see him debut early and given ample opportunities. The Demons list is improving, and Tapscott is well in their plans.

Decision:

Most likely will be listed as a forward, with very minor chance of FWD/MID MPP, the Demons have a lot of forwards that warrant consideration (Green, Sylvia, Petterd, Jurrah) but selecting from the Demons isn't as risky as others. The Demons have no byes for the year, which makes Tapscott a definite short-list for me.

He was in my team last season until his injury near round 1 put him out of contention. Definitely looking at him this year.

Shortlisted. Rated very highly, and will definitely fit into Melbourne's plans going forward, it's just whether he will be playing in Rd 1.

Price is delicious... :P

Maca24

if he is fit and playing well is a lock. should definitely start round 1  :)

touch and go.. with the demons depth he might not play many games

MajorLazer

I don't think I will have him, but will watch his NAB Cup form closely.

How the hell can anyone (with an IQ above 1 - public school students accepted) lock in a rookie this far out from the season?

If you are going to criticise and be elitist at least do so with well formed sentences.

A definite shortlist but I'm not convinced even if he does get games he'll score better than other rookies.

Have a problem with Public School Students? ;) :P.

He's shortlisted for me. Need to see about his chances of games first. Should get a few but will he play a few in a row at the start?
