Alright, with the draft out of the way, its opened up a lot of options for teams...

This i my first actual draft of my team for next season. Very premium heavy with options for trading up and cash cows.

11 Premiums / 9 Mediums / 6 Cheaps / 7 Rookies

Backs: Goddard (C/B), Deledio (C/B), Drummond, Hurley (B/F), Laidler, Otten, Heppell (C/B)
Bench: Mzungu,  Iles, Talia (B/F)

Mids: Swan, A. Swallow, Kelly (C/B), Jack, D. Swallow, Gaff
Bench: Krakouer, Atley, M. Sewell

Rucks: Sandilands, Jolly
Bench: Day, Daw (R/F)

Fwds: N. Riewoldt, Thomas, J. Riewoldt, Petterd (C/F), Wilson, Knights, Petrie (R/F)
Bench: Veszpremi, Lamb, Darling

Ultimately leaves me around 50k in spare change. A few risky plays but could well benefit from taking them. Petterd is one of those but I hope it pays off.

Thoughts?

I wouldn't say this is premium heavy at all...the majority of teams in the rate my team section have 12-14 premiums (majority has 13).

I do like some of the players in your team (wilson is a smokey I've been looking at)
I've looked at Hurley but I just don't think he's going to be used in a role that's very good for SC (Could change with Hirdy though)

- Strong mids & rucks which is good
- Back & Fwds (particularly fwds) are much weaker than mids and rucks. If I were you, I'd downgrade Day and Veszpremi (since they're currently using up a lot of money and they're only on your bench) and you could use that money to upgrade pettard or laidler.
- Only 3 rookies which is pretty good! I usually try to start 2-3 (last year only started 2 but my fwd line suffered because I had too many mid pricers like danger, ziebell, hall and medders, so I think 3-4 is definitely fine.
- I do like this team because it's unique to all the others so far, but you've still got some room for improvement

I don't really see the Forwards being that weak tbh. Just because they are listed on the bench doesn't mean they will be starting on my bench... Just means that when I wrote it out, that was where they are. lol

Petterd is my risky unique, not going to upgrade him as I believe he will become a decent cash cow, especially at his price. Day I can understand and have been considering him for the forward line however that is hard since despite that where he will be playing, its only listing him in FanPlanner currently as a ruck.

At the start of a season before preseason even, hard to know who will be in form or not so its always going to be a risk.

Sorry man, didn't read this the first time around! otherwise I wouldn't have said to upgrade pettard haha.

Yeah fair enough, whoever ends up starting in your team come round 1, maybe try to not have as much money on the bench as you do atm.

I guess my comments were more directed as a comparison to some of the other fwd lines i've seen which usually have 4 premiums and then pettard, knights & petrie. But still really like how different this team is

Think you could afford to have one more rookie in the mids and upgrade laidler.

I like the team though, Shaggy.

Bump.. More opinions please. :P

Barlow 21

I believe your backline is very weak and needs strengthening. Maybe upgrade Laidler if possible as he is heavily overpriced. $320k odd for one 80 point game. :P

bomberboy0618

yeah barlows right that 1 game ruined his chances of being a goodd buy.

^^^^^^
A lot of cash sitting there & have you also thought of maybe dropping Daw for say McDonald (Demons) as also a R/F & that then gives you different team structure. Daw / Petrie both roos. Feel thet maybe McDonald will get a run before Daw does IMO

Don't like Hurleys chances of scoring highly in that bombers team. Can't see how Atley  is going to score either - could only manage 10 kicks a game at under 18s, how is he going to find the pill in the AFL?
