in ballarat? to make a basic transcript of a family conversation

Dad: guys! this year for holidays we're going to ballarat for 2 weeks!
Us: ... but... we always go to the beach...
Dad: yeah! but I thought we'd mix it up this year!
us: but... we like the beach...
Dad: yeah.... I didn't book it in time for the beach...
Us: is there anything to do in ballarat?

Been there done that. One year during Winter went to ballarat for a wine tour.

Fantastic for a young kid, kicked a footy around the winery with other kids whilst our parents did some wine tasting.

Also went to Sovereign Hill, but wasnt patient enough to fine any gold.

Time to hire out a house on the coast with a bunch of mates and make a break for it I say. As tabs said, plenty to entertain a kid (well, at least there was when I went 23 years ago :P) but probably not enough to keep you amused for that long.
