Doherty is clearly a better bowler than Smith, and Smith clearly a better batter than Doherty.

I don't think it's a choice between Doherty and Smith, I think it's a choice between North and Smith.

Would be a bit much to pick Haddin, North & Smith. One of them would have to be dropped for a specialist who is better at what they do :P ie. Paine, Doherty.
