Feel free to change your vote when Cats coach is announced!

5 new coaches (counting Matt Primus) next year. Is actually quite a lot! And we no for sure there will be two new coaches next year (Sheedy and Buckley).

So, which of those 5 will be best? Not necessarily who finishes hire on the ladder, but who will have best game plan, develop players best, etc.

For me? I reckon John Longmire - the most low profile - will shine. The Swans have (unfortunately) got an underrated list with genuine superstars in Goodes, O'Keefe and soon-to-be-superstars Jack and Hanneberry.

Subject to who IMO gets the Cats job but till then I;ll punt on Primus

Voted Longmire before I read the post :P.

He's got a solid list and the Swans recruit very well.

Without a doubt Longmire. He has the credentials and has served his apprenticeship well. Knows the players and they know him, so it will almost like an existing coach for the Swans.

On that note, Primus, who is in the same boat, will go ok, but will still struggle at times IMO. As will the Geelong coach, whoever that might be.

McKenna will do ok, but with a young side he will have a few issues here and there

Hird, well most people on here know my opinion on that appointment...  >:(

Does anyone think the Geelong coach will actually have that tough a job? Or the players are that professional by now that they can kind of coach themselves?
Obvious that's a bit extreme coz he will have some work to do but not as much as say Hird and Primus?

I think Primus might surprise a few people. If he can get them into to being a tough unit at home, they suddenly become a big chance for finals footy.

This is true in a lot of aways. But in some ways the Cats coach will have a harder job - having to make the tough decisions (hell, list decisions have already been made without him), constantly being compared to what use to be, maybe teaching a new game plan...

He'll have quite alot of pressure on him to continue in the cats winning ways. That would be hard enough work.

Chris Scott looks like getting it! Someone outside the club....

Hmmm....

will still pick Longmire

Scott may have shortened in the odds. When was the last time a first year coach either got to or won a Grand Final?
