Should a coach be sacked on the basis of 1 game. They DID make the finals, and, should they have won, they would be playing a vulnerable Doggies next week.
There's only so much a coach can do, when a game is that close it's up to the players to get the team over the line.
OK, they missed a rare opportunity to get to a prelim, but geeez, don't blame just the coach.
And by the way, I thought Sydney were terrific, they were looking down the barrel.
This is shaping up to be a great finals series, Carlton won't be a part of it, but a lot of people who are supposed to know think they over achieved this year anyway.

Sydney were very very good!

speaking for myself its not based on 1 game and even had we made a prelim or pinched a flag it doesnt change the fact he has been average at best

fair enough Marc. To be honest I wouldn't know, but speaking as an "outsider" I thought he was doing OK.

If Waite hadn't hit the post with that kick early in the last quarter you guys would have had us. And then Gartlett could have won the game in the last minute too. I wouldn't be too hard on Ratten, I think he was let down by his team (bar Judd, Walker and Carrazzo).

Hopefully the Swans keep winning so you guys can say you were knocked out by the eventual premiers!  ;D

Agreed. Judd takes some criticism off him though, I still believe, not being bias, that Judd is the best and most valuable player in the AFL. We would of lost by more if it wasn't for Judd, no other player could lead them like that. I hope his son (if he has one) is good at footy, and learns from him, we could pick him up using the Father/Son rule, it could be bigger then the Ablett family.

Other than them they have no.1 picks...then spuds.

Personally I think Ratts has done about as much with the list at Carlton as Knights did at Essendon.
I mean, they have a considerable amount of talent, get some more handy players get rid of the guys going no where all of a sudden you have a premiership squad.
carlton is ready to go, I hope they don't get held back.
