but given the saints have a history of it, joey will probs get rested for a week sooner or later
with boyd, dogs need him every week to have a chance to make top 4.....

cant go wrong with either but maybe boyd as more of a unique and less chance to get rested

Boyd has alot of upside, probably not this week against carlton who do reduce the amount of 100's.

As for Montagna, well I've been saying all week there's a HUGE chance he'll get rested at some stage leading up to the finals.

Looking at it from another point of view, the Saints game plan has been for midfielders like Montagna, Hayes, Goddard to chip in and kick goals, and this has improved all of their DT output.

BUT with the inclusion of Reiwoldt, and Kozzy to come back in the Saints will have to switch their style of play they've been used to since Roo has been out.

With a more directive approach to Reiwoldt now, it could hinder the scoring ability for these midfielders.  hmmm

Keeping this in mind, there will be some adjusting to Reiwoldt back, which might keep all the guns in the team with NO resting until they are used to having Reiwoldt back in.

I know this has been discussed but its so difficult!

Been thinking about it this all week, Joey is a better pick then Boyd but the chance of him being rested is a huge factor, that and all the people in my other league have Joey and no one has Boyd....

So do I pick Joey knowing that if he gets rested everyone else will suffer or if he doesnt get rested then he will average more than Boyd???

IMO its like a difference of max 10ppg between them - but if Joey does get rested even once then that will hopefully balance with extra points scored.

For the unqiueness and 99% not gonna be rested as opposed to joey probs being rested....???

are ppl really going to buy into th whole resting thing?
joey has missed 3 games in four seasons, was rested last year for one week.

played 22 in 08
played 21 in 07 (missed rd 10)
played 21 in 06 (missed rd 1)

i believe the saints were well and truly in finals contention those years too.
there is little history of ''resting'' players IMO. happened once after that blockbuster against geelong.

...but if I had neither I'd pick Boyd! May just provide that unique edge you need, assuming you already have a Montagnish type in the centre anyways?
