Last nights game probably leaves more questions than it answered. The look on the Juddsters face after the game in the paper says it all. goodbye double chance. The Blues will have to start off in another elimination final.
Hawthorn were far from convincing. 8 or 9 goals will not win a game against any other finals team. They certainly need the Buddy and Cyril show running to win.
I thought some of their young guns were quiet, and it showed during the game how important they are, because it places to heavy a workload on the established stars to compete at this level.
I think if the Hawks were playing any of the other teams in the top 6 they may have lost.

i fell asleep at half time and my recording doesnt work this morning >:(

we made some bad skill errors and the hawks pressure was fantastic...

yet if we got that close in the end it offers some hope down the road should we face them again...

The game made Hawthorns credantials even better and didnt dampen Carlton's both could cuase trouble in the finals if Carlton plays on the MCG they are much more dangerous with their run and carry aswell as an open forwardline favouring there small men

have to disagree with some ofthe above points. friday showed hawthorn do not need both buddy and Cyril firing to win. neither were close to hawthorns best and yet they still won. if not for some terrible umpiring decisions eg. sam Mitchell getting clotheslined and nothing being called the game wouldnt have been as close. not too sure about the call that hawthorns young guns were quiet? isaac smiths game was fantastic from a first year and he kicked an awesome sealer that put the game away. as for shiels not his best but another 20 possies and both whitecross and bruest 2 goals each were equal to if not more productive than garlett and betts as small forwards.

both carlton and hawthorn play better at the G. wait a few more rounds the geelong boys will be hating the fact they will be playing the hawks in the first final. very even team in great form at the right time of the year. still think collingwood is the team to beat but I think the team they would least want to play in the granny is hawthorn.

bunyip

I doubt if the Cats care one way or the other who they play. To get to the GF you have to get past either the Hawks or Collingwood. Just keep writing Geelong off, we will see.

not writing geelong off. they are second flag favorites for a reason. I'm just saying geelong is not collingwoods only threat. hawthorn and Carlton both can be there abouts.

bunyip

I'm having second thoughts about Carlton. I think the Gf will be between Coll and Hawthorn and/or Geelong. Mind you, Collingwood would not want to lose their first final either.

even though the eagles are a fairly good unit this year I still think Carlton deserve the 4th spot ahead of them. coll v carl would have been a bit of a tougher game for the pies to win. collingwood should get over west coast fairly easy at the g. as for cats v hawks- whoever wins the first final will make the grand final. can't see collingwood losing a preliminary. I'm almost certain on the fact the loser of that game won't make the granny. as for the winner. well anythings possible come grandfinal day.

bunyip

The fact is in MOST scenerios the top 3 teams will have to play each other at least once to win the premiership. It's probably a moot point which final that happens to be.
I wouldn't write West Coast off against Collingwood either. It's a funny game and Collingwood would not be the first red hot fav to fail.

Hawka

Not being biast but i rely think only 3 teams can win pies, cats and hawks
who ever wins the game between the hawks and cats have 1 foot in the granny because theres a strong chance they will b playin eagles at the g
i no that is stil a hard game but its easier then a top 4 or carlton at the mcg

bunyip

Fair enough, my point is though the top 3 teams will probably have to play each other, so, does it really matter in which final they meet?

2 large cokes

to be honest I'd prefer to lose to collingwood in the prelim than the granny. don't know if I could stand all the shower from their supporters if they beat us in the gf haha.

bunyip

Won't happen, you'll be playing us anyway.
