Hi guys,

Silly question, I know, but how do I win my league  ???. I am going for a league win because there is $$$ to win it. So my priorities changed a few weeks ago from season ranking to winning my league - there are only 4 threatening competitors, so I have a good shot.

There's not a great deal of information on the dreamteam website. One thing I know, I will definately make it into the top 8 of my league as my league is not strong. I cannot understand how the finals work though (round 19-22)? Do you win by:
** Getting the overall highest total points in round 19-22
** Getting the most wins in the finals ( out of the 4 games)
** Is it a knockout comp
** Do points scored pre-finals (rounds 4-18) count towards finals win

If anyone could help, I would really appreciate it. My strategy planning will need to change big time depenending on what the answer is.

Think im just braindead from all this DT.....  :o

Its a knockout comp. Just like the AFL final system 1st place vs 8th, 2nd vs 7th, etc. Points pre final don't count towards finals but your league wins during the year do. The more league wins you get, the better off you are. Try to aim for top 4 for a safety net.

The highest point getter round 19-22 doesn't matter as long as you beat your opponent those weeks. Doesn't matter who wins the most, its a knockout comp. You have to win to stay in it.

If you make the top 4, you get a bye the next week by winning the first final. e.g finish 2nd and beat 3rd place first week of finals (round 19). You get the next week off before playing a prelim the week after (round 21).

points mean nothing in finals WINS is what wins finals ...as simple as that.. ;D

Easy, your players score higher then the guy you play that week! lol  ::)

Thanks guys, think I was duped. I was told it was by points like in the mid season league, and not by knockout  lol  >:(

Ok so how does strategy differ to overall ranking?

I guess ill be saving 6 trades for the finals, this leaves me with 10 to use in the meantime? My team is going ok, scoring just over 2000 points a week with a few hundred grand in the bank. Should I still be looking to upgrade my cashcows over the next 4-5 rounds or is there different strategy you would recommend?

Justin Bieber

Pretty covered like that. Look to upgrade your cash cows like everybody else but only keep trades as long as you are sure you will make the 8 at least. No point keeping trades if you ain't going to make it.

just keep an eye on some of the other teams

i have seen showere teams go from average to playing off in the grand final

if you see their points moving up check out the team

the year i had my easiest league win was when i spent 3 months in the UK, and didnt trade from like rounds 3-16, my team finished 7th and then i was the only one with enough trades in the finals to keep the team in form and i walked in...

if you think there are only 4 team that can win it, you really ponly need to trade out LTI's and manage cash cows to keep the bank account full

Spite

Easiest way to win your league is win games early to cement a place in the top 8, then just don't trade. A Week before finals, if you have 2 trades to use per round for players in good form, you'll gun it home. :)

What do you guys reckon about trading in fallen guns to my team mid season (like Montagna, Dal Santo, ect.)? My team is currently averaging 2000 per round, with 14 trades left & 250k cash.

There are only 3 people in my league averaging over 2000 points a game currently, with the rest burning trades to catch up to the top 4. Ill definately make it into the top 8 so wondering if I should pursue these fallen guns when they are ripest, or stick with the team I have and cash a few cows along the way for extra $$$. Save 8-10 trades & $$$ for rounds 16-22.

Sound like a good game plan?

If your going for a league win you really do have to give up on overall rankings. You burn trades faster and tend to trade players before theyve peaked or bought them before theyve bottomed out.
It's just a lot more aggresive
