Round 14

Stewart Stupidity Fails Firefiles
Calgary Fireflies (1661) defeated by Springfield Isotopes (1694)

Stewart tried his best to cripple Springfield's midfield by taking out Prestia but it ultimately wasn't enough to prevent a loss, and Calgary's prime defender will now face a lengthy stint on the sidelines. Not what you want with the finals race heating up. Coach Stig will also want to put Tarryn Thomas as far away from the starting lineup as possible, after his late inclusion for Parish resulted in a score of 17, exactly what the aforementioned Prestia scored. Coincidence? I choose to believe it's not.

Dallas' Day Off Gets it Done
Guadalajara Pirates (1432) defeated by Dallas Coyotes (1626)

Jack Steele was left on the sidelines for this rivalry match, but it wouldn't have mattered anyway as Guadalajara continue to be mired in 1400 scores and can't capitalise on a relatively weakened Dallas who posted their lowest total of the season, thanks to debutant Hobbs and an injured Scott. With Guadalajara's percentage taking another hit, finals looks almost impossible with the Pirates effectively being 2 games outside with just 4 games to go. Still, two wins in the next two weeks gives them a shot. As for Dallas, it was simply a day off.

Scorpions Size up Senators
Washington Senators (1676) defeated by Arizona Scorpions (1749)

Arizona are almost certainly finishing in the top 2, but that's no reason to slack off against a rejuvenated Washington outfit. The Senators posted a competitive total, led by McCluggage Coniglio and Witts, but a low floor spoiled their chances against the superior Scorpions led by Touk Miller. Washington still very much in the hunt as they take it up to the comp's best teams, but will be hoping these close losses don't cost them.

Kings Back on Top
Los Angeles Kings (1678) defeat Bermuda Tiger Sharks (1577)

After last week's horror show, LA have rebounded nicely, disposing of Bermuda in their hunt for that last spot in the top 4. For Bermuda it was once again their low floor which spoiled the party, putting Dawson and Lloyd's great scores to waste. On their best day they can take it up to anyone though, so will just be hoping they don't slide out of the top 6, rather than battle for a top 4 spot.

Spoon Shipped out to El Paso
Hawaiian Surfers (1615) defeat El Paso Pioneers (1552)

The Battle for the spoon has finally arrived, with El Paso needing a victory here to avoid being locked into the undesirable reward. However, Hawaii was able to get it done at home, and put themselves two games clear of their opponents, meaning the spoon is all but certain to end up at El Paso. A bit of an unfortunate result for the Pioneers, but Pick 1 isn't a terrible outcome I suppose
