Hey everyone!

So with the AFL Fixture being fully released now, they have introduced the problem of 'Round 18'.

We were operating on two key assumptions:
- There would be 17 AFL Rounds; and
- That Essendon v Melbourne would happen before WXV Finals.

In response to this, I've made the following decision.

The next Essendon & Melbourne clash (6 days from now) will be counted as Round 4

The reasons are:
- I don't want to use averages (reason below)
- Essendon & Melbourne didn't cancel - they postponed. To keep the integrity of the season - and for record keeping purposes - I feel like it's best to recognise all games played. We haven't ignored any before, and I don't intend to now.

Why use Essendon v Melbourne now?

Why not earlier in the season...
Because we didn't know what the AFL fixture was until a few days ago. I was operating under the impression that they'd fit Essendon v Melbourne in one of these compressed fixtures, but that didn't happen.

Why not later in the season...
Because the last two AFL rounds are 9 games in length (noting Round 18 is floating). They are self contained, and I feel like that will provide the best integrity for the preliminary and grand finals. This can't be understated. To have the best teams play in a self-contained round, on a level playing field validates the season for mine.

We're also already playing in fluid rounds, so I don't think adding Melbourne & Essendon as floating teams makes the slightest drop in the ocean.

Please find the upcoming schedule for the next few weeks until the conclusion of the Semi-Finals below.

And yes, we'll need all teams in the top 8 to submit teams for the Semis, in case they win.
