Top 1000 is about 500 points away from you, I think it might be a bridge too far. That's a very nice comeback and a top 3k or 2k finish is still a very good rank!

Agree it's a long shot but haven't given up, 100 points needed to bridge every week. An injury/suspension to Grundy would make that a lot easier but there's a few other variables that could work in my favour. I guess the key here is captain's choices, Kelly firing, Boak & Beams finishing well & Heater not blowing good scores with clanger ridden games.

Trindacut

Yeah probably a bridge to far but good recovery.

Bully

Another good week and have now moved up to 3676, Beams, Heater, Kelly & Titch (C) getting the job done. Boak still frustratingly average but most of the forwards struggled this week. With Ahern's development I'll be looping with T.Smith & axing Walters or Boak if he delivers another premo score. Watched the North game and was super impressed, I reckon he'll be a Greenwood type rookie for the remaining 4 weeks.

With finals now upon us I've finished 1st, 3rd, 6th, 8th & 12th in my leagues, not a bad result all things considered. The aim however is still top 1000 & that remains a possibility. Will be going into this week with a full squad, just need a lift out of my forwards & fingers crossed Grundy slows down. Goldy still pumping out tons (10 consecutive) but 50 points is 50 points. 1 trade remaining & will be holding for now.

What are you gonna do with Savage?  :'(

Good question, last trade so need to nail this one.

Probably wait for Murphy's score to filter through & then either hold or grab Webster. Only have 444k which rules out Hurn, TMac, Witherden etc. Hurley has a high BE so could wait a week and grab him next week. Will probably sit tight if Murphy goes 60+.

Jeez Webster is a risk any more groin problems and he will be shelved for the year , probably best to pick a player from a team fighting to play finals.

Not much to pick from, Hurley the most appealing & at least I'll know his price before Murphy plays. If he hits his average he'll just squeeze into my budget. 7k off McDonald which is dead set annoying.

Fair shout, fourteen 80+ scores not to be scoffed at. I guess the only problem is he plays tonight, would rather wait on Murphy to be honest.

You should still be able to afford him next week unless he gets a big score tonight and you might be able to get Hurley sit tight for now ..... maybe not Tuohy is 437K thought it was 432K  ;D

Well this week pretty much destroyed my hopes of a top 1000 finish, thanks largely to Goldy losing 100 points to Grundy & Buddy going beserk. Pretty annoying considering I had Buddy pencilled into my team the week Sicily went down, the plans were there but this season has been ravaged by injury so the gods haven't exactly been kind on the trade front. Bringing in Webster probably not the best choice either but given he was averaging 98 without the injury affected score I figured he was decent value. Lachlan Murphy produced absolute pus so there was no way I was rolling with a 28, he actually scored a pathetic 6 points over the final 3 quarters. Hurley did his part too & could have slotted in this week but ah well................

So all top 1000 bets now off the table, I'm the latest addition the Zero Trades Club so just wait for Gawn to get injured this week. I guess the goal from here is to better my rank from 2017, that would be around the 2700 mark.

Bully

The week the walls came tumbling down, Kelly, Walters & Shaw (all PODs) likely out next week. Will now have to field Holman, Murphy & Ahern. Currently ranked 4444 so it now becomes a question of stemming the bleeding. By my reckoning I'll finish around the 6000 mark which is a bit disappointing. Fair comeback from 30,000 12 weeks ago but still a poor result based on other seasons. Lessons learned? Not much really, injuries destroyed the start of the year & I never fully recovered. Bye planning was sound, rookie selections bang on apart from missing out on Higlet. Slightly annoyed I didn't listen to my own advice & grabbed Dusty when he was 600k. I'm not going to beat myself up over Danger either, he's actually been Mr. Reliable all year whereas the other mids have been through the revolving door. Not picking Grundy up in round 4 might be another poor choice but given I've run out of trades perhaps not. But for a recap here's the carnage.

Liberatore
Lobb
Ablett
Kelly
Walters
Armitage
Fyfe
Sicily
Savage
Shaw

Billings just a complete stuff up. I reckon next year I'll be focusing on durability above anything else, it seems there's more injuries occurring, don't have the figures but my gut tells me we need to be more careful with our trades.

Moving onto next year, think I will be going something like this -

Docherty, Whitfield, Laird

Titch, Macrae, Cripps, Danger, Oliver

Gawn, Grundy

Bont, Greene, Gray

Some good discounts may come in the form of Libba & Birchall who should be rookie priced.

Would love to start those Mids and Rucks but I think we would be dreaming to think we could afford them all

Titch 720k
Macrae, Grundy, Gawn 685K-705K
Cripps, Danger, Oliver 640K-660K

Based on current averages that combo adds up to a starting price of 4.75 Million for 7 players  :o
Adding in guys like, Laird, Whitfield, Bont and Gray would mean we would need a lot of 102k rookies starting :)

For reference a common starting mid/ruck combo for this year of:
Dusty, Titch, Kelly, Fyfe, Conigs, Goldy, Gawn
Only cost 4.01 million, 750k is a really big difference!

True, would probably look at going lighter in the forwards, Gray not essential. Bont 100% (if he gets M/F), Greene will be cheap so he gets a tick, maybe look at Fasolo who is seeking a trade, should be around 250k. Harley Bennell? We're now talking under 200k.
