Another player with the dreaded Rd 14 bye making it a little difficult.

Unless you already have Savage/Webster, then I don’t see the problem with his bye. You could quite easily sit him on the bench with Laird in R14 and not cop any donuts (assuming you’ve moved Doedee, Duman & Murphy on by then - which is likely)
I have Webster, Savage and Laird :)
Only going to be able to field 16 players in round 14; ready for the carnage

Had him from the start 8)

His scores have been consistent but only 3 scores over 100 from 9 rounds

WhatsSC???

Do you guys think lloyd's position/scoring will change with Mills now out for the season?

Nope, will play his role as usual, mills played 3rd tall and lloydy barely has a defensive bone in his body haha

After taking a closer look, should we be that excited about Lloyd?

119, 71, 85, 89, 94, 90, 80, 130, 173. If you count a prem defender as 95+, he's only done that 3/9 games. You'd be ok with the 90 and 94, but less than 90 4/9 is hardly world changing...

To be honest, I was never that EXCITED about him.... but he was one of my first players picked.

I agree that the past two games are likely the outliers, but I picked him with confidence when team selection first went live because he's consistent and dependable with a low floor. Much less of a roller-coaster than guys with similar averages like Yeo-Yeo (who can be absolutely electric one week, then quiet the next).

Not necessarily exciting, but I haven't had one second-thought or worry about him all season.

Who should we be excited about then?

You are not picking him to be D1, so you can still fit Laird, Yeo, Sicily, Simpson & Hurley around him. Comparing him to those guys is irrelevant.

Comparable options to Lloyd are McDonald, Webster, Howe & Hurn.

McDonald has a dodgy toe and plays KPF, so naturally he is prone to low scores if he doesn't hit the scoreboard.
Webster has no premium scoring history and has never averaged more than 71 in a season before.
Howe has already scored a 48, 78 and 80 this season, so is also prone to poor scores.
Hurn is 30 years old and has spent almost his entire career to this point being an 85-90 average player, is this really going to change significantly now?

None of these alternatives stand out as having a significant edge over Lloyd, so what is the harm in taking a punt (while Lloyd is under 520k) that he will deliver a few more of these 130+ scores?

Ultimately, will overlooking Webster, McDonald, Howe & Hurn really burn you? That is the question you have to ask.

1 score below 80 is the massive thing. Not many defenders are as consistent as he is. 7/9 above 85 so 18/23 games based on numbers he’ll go over 85. Pretty good scoring if you ask me

Funnily enough I number crunched on all those guys. And I think Webster stands out as a clearly better option for similar price. Has scored well against good teams, and has 6/7 at 95+. As you say, most people will be looking to lock in at least Laird, Sicily and Yeo, then quite a few will be adding Simmo and Hurley to that mix. So you’re really picking a D6, I think if you’re paying over 500k you want to be expecting 90+ consistently which you can’t really do with Lloyd...
