Super long weekend means super short turnaround for Captains. Let's hope I can still come up with the goods. For those new to the forums, each week I will tell you some statistics on a player's last 3 games, their last 3 against this week's opponent, and their last 3 at this ground. I will also do a quick overview on my thoughts and have a guess at their score for this week. From all this, I'll give you my top 5 captain choices for the week. Requests probably won't happen this year but feel free to point out anyone obvious I've missed.

The facts & thoughts:

T. Mitchell
Last 3: 122, 125, 115 (121 avg)
Last 3 against St Kilda: 90, 142 (116 avg)
Last 3 at Launceston: N/A

Tommy Mitchell has incredibly form and looks like a 120 every single week. Against the Saints, he's had one great score and one not-so-great so let's back his consistency and shoot down the middle. Prediction - 120

Rockliff
Last 3: 124, 157, 106 (129 avg)
Last 3 against Port: 76, 33, 90 (66 avg)
Last 3 at Gabba: 157, 123, 123 (134 avg)

Rocky is in fine form this year but is worrying against the Power... Do you know where he's not worrying? At home where he averages a massive 134 in his last three. Ceiling is huge but there is that Power risk... Prediction - 120

Zorko
Last 3: 157, 139, 117 (138 avg)
Last 3 against Port: 85, 110, 79 (91 avg)
Last 3 at Gabba: 139, 108, 65 (104 avg)

You know who's been even better than Rocky recently? Dayne Zorko. The fantasy star is averaging 138 over his last three and has a slightly better (but still poor) record against the Power than Rocky. Looking really good right now. Prediction - 125

Beams
Last 3: 126, 94, 124 (115 avg)
Last 3 against Port: 106, 123, 136 (122 avg)
Last 3 at Gabba: 94, 113, 66 (91 avg)

So many good Lions this week. Beams has some pretty good recent form but, unlike his team mates, he also has a good record against the Power. The question is which to pick this week (or just pick Sloane...). Prediction - 120

S. Martin
Last 3: 121, 114, 126 (120 avg)
Last 3 against Port: 129, 97, 58 (95 avg)
Last 3 at Gabba: 114, 121, 106 (114 avg)

Stef's yet another Lion in good form with a good record at the Gabba. Seriously, you can't go wrong with any of the four this week. Prediction - 120

Ablett
Last 3: 118, 118, 138 (125 avg)
Last 3 against North: 91, 119, 119 (110 avg)
Last 3 at Etihad: 118, 127, 119 (121 avg)

Ever since we counted GAJ out, he's been great. He's now got good form and good history against his name so I can't see any reason you shouldn't back him in this week. Prediction - 120

Fyfe
Last 3: 87, 95, 110 (97 avg)
Last 3 against West Coast: 122, 108, 102 (111 avg)
Last 3 at Subi: 87, 110, 110 (102 avg)

Two weeks in a row under the ton for Fyfe so I don't think you can back him this week. That said, he's pretty good in Derbys so you could do worse. Prediction - 110

Merrett
Last 3: 137, 134, 97 (123 avg)
Last 3 against Melbourne: 136, 84, 68 (96 avg)
Last 3 at Etihad: 148, 127, 89 (121 avg)

Merrett is just so good at getting the ball that you've gotta consider him every single week. Great against the Dees last year, great in the last two weeks, and can score well at Etihad. Prediction - 130

Watson
Last 3: 95, 54, 119 (89 avg)
Last 3 against Melbourne: 143, 128, 110 (127 avg)
Last 3 at Etihad: 52, 64, 102 (73 avg)

So, so tempting based on history against the Dees but don't do it. Prediction - 95

Dangerfield
Last 3: 117, 93, 117 (109 avg)
Last 3 against Collingwood: 114, 89, 135 (113 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 93, 138, 113 (115 avg)

Only averaging 109 over the last three, Danger is far from the permacaptain we thought he was. Not enough signs against the Pies to lock him in over some others (although still pretty good) so it'll be another week we overlook him. Prediction - 115

Selwood
Last 3: 175, 105, 137 (139 avg)
Last 3 against Collingwood: 57, 117, 116 (97 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 105, 166, 103 (125 avg)

Selwood's been the better Cat in recen weeks and might be worth a serious look this week based on form. Prediction - 120

Pendlebury
Last 3: 70, 84, 115 (90 avg)
Last 3 against Geelong: 114, 142, 121 (126 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 70, 110, 135 (105 avg)

Pendles is so down on form that he almost didn't get a look-in this week. His record against the Cats though is really good so maybe this is the week he bounces back. Prediction - 110

Treloar
Last 3: 144, 93, 134 (124 avg)
Last 3 against Geelong: 116, 106, 95 (106 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 144, 127, 125 (132 avg)

Great last week after a down week in Round 4. Treloar has been very reliable for our fantasy teams and will do great again this week. He's killing it at the G this year and his record against the Cats is nice. Prediction - 130

Sloane
Last 3: 132, 143, 139 (138 avg)
Last 3 against Richmond: 88, 97, 79 (88 avg)
Last 3 at AO: 143, 139, 68 (117 avg)

I was wrong when I said Sloane will stay true to history. Screw history! Sloane will just dominate every week and I'm backing him in until he proves otherwise. The man is on fire. Prediction - 140

D. Martin
Last 3: 125, 63, 156 (115 avg)
Last 3 against Adelaide: 99, 116, 80 (98 avg)
Last 3 at AO: 99, 116, 96 (104 avg)

Apparently you don't need a groin to score above 120. Dusty's been great this year but he's too inconsistent to lock in as captain unless you need a POD. Prediction - 110

LAHUG'S ROUGHIE OF THE WEEK!

In this segment, I'll talk about someone that, because of stats and/or gut feeling, I think will go huge this week. It'll usually be somebody that you wouldn't usually give the C to but, if you have him and are feeling brave, might be worth a look.

Franklin
Last 3: 88, 81, 83 (84 avg)
Last 3 against Carlton: 98, 86, 141 (108 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 101, 85, 92 (93 avg)

Form is down so why is he here? Last week, Robbie Gray kicked 5 goals and scored 125. The week before, Matera had 3 and 138 while Lynch had 7 and 132. That's a key forward, a small forward, and a mid-forward all kicking bags against the Blues. Buddy the hybrid can lock in 5+. Gutsy prediction - 135

The verdict:
1.   Sloane (140)

2.   Treloar (130)
3.   Merrett (130)
4.   Zorko (125)
5.   Rockliff/Beams/S.Martin (120)

Mat0369

My only worry with Rocky is he started the 3rd and 4th quarter forward. He was on 70 at HT but was moved out of the guts for chunks after HT

Thunderbolts

+1000 read as usual Huggy

For me this week it will be Merrett after I bring him in....

Chelskiman

Well brought in Rocky this week, but tempted to keep the C on Treloar after looking at the numbers.

n186

What about Shuey, been in great form?

DBRiMatt

How often does the Roughie of the week go as predicted?

I'm taking a punt off of Rocky and onto Buddy this week. :P

Rocky poor this week too for what it's worth (at half time, at least).

Rusty00

Well, you did tell us to go Sloane.

Not sure many of us listened though :-\

I didn't have Sloane... otherwise, I would have.
