Best in each position for each range

I thought this might be a bit handy and good to have up for debate. my opinion is that these are the best in each position for each 100k range:

DEFENDERS
$600k plus: Heath Shaw, $607,800 - pretty obvious as he's the only one but is still a very good option

$500-600k: Rory Laird, $506,200 - poised to play a big role and collect plenty of the pill, lock for me

$400-500k: Elliot Yeo (MID), $443,300 - I only needed a good game from him in the Nab to seal the deal, although it was a smashing. Plenty of other good options also such as KK, MacMillan, Bartel and Johanisen

$300-400k: Tommy Sheridan, $351,100 - will break out this year and rise in price and score well, that's all I need from him

$200-300k: Jacob Weitering, $220,800 - will play most of the season and will score quite well. Key to Carlton's future, but if you're not keen then another option is Harwood

$100-200k: Matt Dea, $183,600 - DE was amazing through the NAB, looked good when most of the other Essendon rookies weren't as confident

MIDFIELDERS
$600k plus: Patrick Dangerfield, $647,000 - Really a three-way tie between him Ablett and Fyfe for me, you should aim to have all three in my opinion, but if you're not convinced on Ablett's health and how much forward time Fyfe will have then Danger is the logical choice

$500-600k: Tom Rockliff, $550,100 - Too cheap to ignore the man who started at $700k last year, and unfortunately suffered an injury filled year. Lock

$400-500k: Jack Viney, $497,100 - Will be key in Melbourne's midfield, only reason I don't have him in is because of the next guy

$300-400k: Tom Liberatore, $357,300 - You cannot start without him. Is a gun at a dirt cheap price and is one of if not the biggest lock this year

$200-300k: Callum Mills, $211,800 - They gave us Heaney last year, and this year Sydney have gifted us with Mills. Very talented kid, will get game time and will rise to a sufficient price

$100-200k: Ben Kennedy (FWD), $187,800 - played well in the NAB, will get time in the guts and will score well

RUCKS
$600k plus: Todd Goldstein, $695,100 - Look- you're most welcome to start without him, but for me he's a lock. Scores well and should be a set and forget.

$500-600k: Max Gawn, $550,800 - Paired with Goldy for me. He's a beast and with a beard like that how can you say no. Just edges out Naitanui for me. Just.

$400-500k: Kurt Tippett (FWD), $483,300 - Had him in my forward line, but was replaced after the NAB. His DPP is valuable so you could slot him in as an F2-4 and have him as cover for your rucks, but I wouldn't have him in the rucks. Best to just upgrade him to a 500k+ ruck

$300-400k:Matthew Lobbe, $389,500 - Was dead keen on him pre NAB, but watching him there, I realised he may not be as good a pick as we previously thought. Again, better to splash the cash

$200-300k: Nathan Vardy (FWD), $293,400 - I'm not going to go anywhere near him unless he plays insanely well and consistently once the season starts, but if your heart's set on a ruck in that price range then I guess he's the best option.

$100-200k: Mitchell King (FWD), $117,300 - This depends on what strategy you want. If you want some one who will play games, then I'd go Mason Cox or Daniel Currie. However, I'm a big fan of the loophole strategy for R3, and Melbourne plays plenty of late games which is perfect. His DPP is handy too if you have someone in your forwards to cover a ruck injury

FORWARDS
$600k plus: Brett Deledio, $608,800 - Again, only option in this category. I don't think he's worth starting with

$500-600k: Michael Barlow (MID), $505,300 - Cheap enough to make him necessary for me. Will play in the guts should average 100+ at least which is all i want. Lock

$400-500k: Aaron Hall, $428,100 (MID) -Has been tried in a new role throughout the NAB, and has excelled. Gold coast will be pleased with that, and is a great pick for me.

$300-400k: Jordan De Goey (MID), $318,400 - I think if he can avoid the second year blues, you can pencil him in for a 90 average. Good pick, am considering strongly

$200-300k: Daniel Wells (MID), $243,900 - Showed us all in the NAB that his injury worries are behind him. lock for me

$100-200k: Sam Kerridge (MID), $137,600 - Lock. Absolute lock, at his price in my opinion the best $150k or less player player of the year

Any suggestions for a change are welcome, let me know what u think hopefully this is helpful  ;D

Agree with nearly everything said - only difference Fremantle have three defenders that switch it around - Ibbitson, Sutcliffe and Sheridan, making it difficult to pin one down; so I have switched to Lonergan. 100% on Viney and Hall

Nice read!  Sheridan is the one for me who I've had all along, but have recently switched to Lonergan, I see Sutcliffe stealing some of Tommy's thunder...thoughts?  I might even go with Sheridan and Lonergan at D2 and D3.

Cheers mate! haven't heard much on Lonergan. i'm a huge fan of sheridan though, is there reason to look into lonergan?

Very good reason.  He played the first NAB game, then rolled his ankle in the 2nd NAB game (minor, rested NAB 3 but right for round 1).  I think up to the point he got injured he had attended the most centre bounces for GC (could be wrong).  Rocket has said he will slot into Swallow's position.

Is this meant to be best scorers, or best starting picks (i.e. factoring in value).

Cause if just best scorers, I'd have guys like Boyd/McVeigh, Joey, Buddy/Robbo up there instead.

Very surprised you went for Tippett over Sinclair at 400-500 ruck.

MC

Just a minor one: Tippett is priced @ 483k in SC this year

For me, other than what you've stated:
400-500k def - toss up between Yeo and Smith.
300-400k def - toss up between Lonergan and Sheridan
500-600k ruck - NN > Gawn

Me personally i don't think Smith can return to his best this year. one to watch for 2017 imo

Surely Currie is the best ruck option for $100k-$200k scoring wise. Not sure why you picked cox.

If a ruck goes down then you need a backup. If yoou want to use the loophole then choose another position as they have backups

Currie was left out of NAB 3 which doesn't bode well for games early.  Grimley would prob be the best bet for at least cover.

frenzy

reckon Mummy will smash all rucks early until something gives way, just a matter of how many games he plays, but will lead all comers.
