I don't think you'd bother trading him in if that was all you'd Madeira Davis. But on the other hand what if you have Petracca sitting on your bench, players are going up in price and Petracca does an injury again in the VFL or doesn't find form and keeps playing there?

Menadue could walk out Round 1, not touch the ball for the match, get dropped for the year and be stuck at 150k

Yeah but that's why I always use the first 2 weeks to correct rookies.
Once they start rising in price you're stuck

If Petracca were to come back rd.3 or 4 he plays 2 games free of price rise. So that's 5 or 6 rds another rookie has to accumulate cash for you. If he doesn't look like playing before rd.3 I won't be starting him.              ;)

I think the main thing is his price. If he was a 170-220k player I don't think anyone would start with him but the fact he's pretty much basement price makes it tough. And then it's how much will he average and will Roo's ease him in.... i.e Play a few games then have a spell for a couple?

This is a little confusing because it sounds like Stevo says he plays a practice match whilst rd1 is going on, but than Freako says he could play rd1. I think Freako misunderstood - surely Petraca just doesn't walk straight in without a proper run first

I think what they mean by this is they will do with him What Geelong are doing with Selwood. Play them in the VFL this week and then that gives them the hit out and then in to the AFL the next week for round 1.

May use petracca for captain loophole until he plays. See what teams are announced for round 1.

Thing is, you're all looking at trading him in at some point anyway so you can save a trade if you think he'll be playing by round 3 or 4 you may as well start with him
