Hey guys!

Don't think I've ever posted in here, but thought I'd post my final team before Supercoach opens tomorrow!

A few debatable picks, but here goes:

DEF: Simpson, Kolodjashnij, Bartel, Yeo, Smith, Wagner (Hartley, Adams)
MID: Pendlebury, Ablett, Gray, Rockliff, Liberatore, B.Crouch, Mills, Trengove (Woodward, Ahern, Cuningham)
RUC: Lobbe, Leuenberger (102k rookie)
FWD: Martin, Dahlhaus, Barlow, Franklin, Wells, Kerridge (M.Brown, Petracca)

$400 left in the kitty.

The biggest risk here is clearly the weak rucks, but I feel as though I've used the extra money pretty wisely. Just sweating on the fitness of Leuenberger..

Absolute best case is one could become a keeper, or Leuenberger could easily be F6 or ruck/foward bench coverage (depending on his average).

Around 14-15 keepers, depending on who you call a keeper, and the only 'rookies' starting on the field are Wagner and Mills.

Thoughts? :)

MC

Yeah I agree with the 14 keepers statement, will be 15 if one of Wells/Libba/Crouch/Berger come through for you. Could possibly be too mid-priced though I think. Have you considered dropping Crouch to a rookie to free up 200k for your rucks? SC site down, but it might be enough for a Lobbe to NicNat upgrade? I counted Lobbe as a keeper in my count, though he is easily the biggest risk as far as a 'keeper' goes. I predict 90-95 for him, which wouldn't be quite enough for me.

Solid start though, i'm sure it will be changed 100 times before the H & A though!
Good luck!

Thanks for the comment MC!

I've already done what you suggested haha, Crouch out and upgraded in the rucks (Mumford at the moment).

Interesting to see where the side will be in another few months, but not a bad start I reckon

Solid Start -

Nice Team and structure - As you have said Rucks a little weak.

Watch Trengove as he is being managed by Dons so may not start but you will have other alternatives,

One suggestion and it is up to you is try and replace Franklin with Tippett and will give you additional ruck coverage if using a DPP.

Thanks for the feedback too Ringo!

I'm starting to get a feeling we will have a good range of rookies playing early, so have re-drafted the team with a guns and rookies approach:

DEF: Boyd, Simpson, Bartel, Yeo, Wagner, Brown (Hartley, Adams)
MID: Pendlebury, Ablett, Gray, Rockliff, Liberatore, Hopper, Trengove, Gresham (Woodward, Cuningham, Mathieson)
RUC: Martin, Naitanui (102k rookie)
FWD: Martin, Dahlhaus, Wingard, Barlow, Kerridge, Petracca (Kommer, Pickert)

$3,900 remaining.

This gives me 15 clear keepers (Libba is absolutely a keeper) and set and forget rucks! There's also a few players I can drop down (e.g. Gray > Selwood, Wingard > Frankin) if I need to bring in some more expensive/reliable rookies.

If there are enough rookies playing I'm thinking this is a much better way to structure the side.

Ringo

Like it and worth sitting on till we see which Rookies surface for Rd 1.

#7
DEF: Shaw, Boyd, Bartel, Weitering, Dea, Brown (Hartley, Adams)

MID: Dangerfield, Pendlebury, Ablett, Rockliff, Liberatore, Mills, B.Kennedy, Menadue (Petracca, Hewett, Davis)

RUCK: Goldstein, Martin (Grimley)

FWD: Montagna, Martin, Barlow, Wells, Milera, Kerridge (McCarthy, McDonald-Tipungwuti)

$5,300 in the bank.

I'm really happy with the structure. Only 13 keepers, but I feel like the team balance is about right.

In defence, I shuffled around recently to fit Shaw in. Boyd has been a lock all pre-season for me, and had to decide between Laird and Bartel for the final position. I think they will average roughly the same, so took Bartel + 35k.

Midfield is pretty stock-standard, no PODs here. Fyfe will be an upgrade target, but part of me wants to drop Pendles down to JPK for a point of difference..

Rucks are locked and loaded. Just about every year in Supercoach I take a punt in ruck and it's never paid off, so set and forget this year.

Forwards again are pretty standard, but have Montagna in there as a POD. Really like him this year, will play as a bona fide midfielder and hopefully average around 105. Might put Dahlhaus in, but really want the point of difference.

The only thing I'm not liking is the lack of PODs, with Boyd and Montagna being the only premiums under 10% ownership.. But I don't think that matters too much if you get the mix right!

JPK, Laird and Dahlhaus are pushing for a spot, but now just waiting for team announcements.

Thanks!
