what about keeping Heater and give Dusty the chop instead. Just a little something for ya to chew whilst waiting teams. I know which one is more reliable going 110.

I resisted going Heater last year expecting him to fall over and couldn't get the job done trying to bring him in. So I won't be making that mistake this year.

You got a very nice team RD.

I'm thinking the same thing man. Really dont like not having Heater

Might just do Pendles to Shiel to get in Mills but pass on Weits and keep Shaw

It's an option that's for sure

I've just given Dusty the chop tonight - he's priced at his maximum so you'll be able to pick him up cheaper. Also not sure how less rotations and family issues will affect him (if at all)... and he's been rubbish all NAB

Great team, RD, well done.  Hope not, but probably only a couple of tweaks left due to unexpected injury niggles etc. Sticking with Heater a good idea imo.  I agree with your plan to replace Pendles as I see him becoming more of an on-ground midfield manager
and I think his scoring could slide a bit because of that.  Dylan Shiel may be a better pick but I've had him the last two years and he always seemed to find a way to let me down. The name that keeps popping up for me is Jelwood.  Provided he's overcome his injury concerns he could be the sleeper no-one's paying much attention to, a genuine POD.  IMO it's most likely he'll only attract a weak run-with tag, if he attracts one at all. Food for thought.  Beautiful team.

Alright, so this is my first update for the 2016 season

To say it's been a shocker is an understatement. For the first time ever I started mid pricers which didn't work out at all, and also had to trade out injured players like Rocky, Crouch and now Fyfe

I was ranked in the 20k+ range but this week was my first decent score and I'm now ranked 13k. As bad as it's been I'm somehow 3-0 in my cash league so that's good

DEF: Shaw, Bartel, Adams, Byrne-Jones, Dea, Tippa (Byrne, Ruggles)

MID: Fyfe, Ablett, Dangerfield, Pendles, Parker, Gray, Libba, Mills (Menadue, Davis, Dunkley)

RUC: Goldy, NicNat (Grimley)

FWD: Hall, Barlow, Wells, Kerridge, Bennedy, Papley (Petracca, Brown)

6 trades already used and $323,600 in the bank

I'm thinking this week:

Fyfe to Jelwood/Titch and Menadue to Zorko (Move Petracca to mids)

Fyfe to Parker and Bennedy/Dea to Zorko/Dahl is an option too but I think Dea vs Carlton is worth keeping for one more week, and Bennedy has great JS too so happy to keep him a bit longer too. Menadue is every chance of getting dropped and is a real slow burner

Then next week:
Dea to Tucker/Cox and Tippa to prem defender, or double downgrade 2 of Dea/Bennedy/Tippa/Brown to Tucker/Cox

Would love to hear anyone's thoughts and suggestions

Cheers

Early signs say double downgrade looks to be the go next week as you are in a similar position to myself this week,
a Fyfe trade + an upgrade from around 350k in the kitty.

Agree hanging onto Dea is wise against Blues, unsure about moving Walla on in two weeks though, obviously that won't be locked in for you just yet, but am looking at M W Brown myself. Walla has the ceiling that Brown hasn't shown and could grab some extra cash with another 100+ score that we have seen before.

Did well to avoid chopstick warrior Dusty, you probably owe frenzy a beer for that one.

Looking like Fyfe to Jelwood and Menadue to Zorko is the move I'll make this week, and then next week I can bring in a prem def

OR

Do I do Fyfe to Jelwood and Menadue to Simmo this week, and then bring in Zorko next week for Tippa/Bennedy?

That's the two choices I've narrowed it down to, and due to BE's and this weeks opposition I am now leaning towards getting Simmo this week and Zorko next

Ringo

I would do Simmo this week RD as he has a B/e of only 61 compared to Zorkos 113 Zorko has 2 sub 50 scores v Swans as well. So basically I think Simmo will exceed his B/e by more than Zorks who will probably not get his.

Since my last update things have been heading in the right direction

My shocking start to the season (Where I spent the first 3-4 rounds in the 17-22k range) rules me out of winning, but I'm still hoping to match or better last years result of 194th

I'm now into 1788th and am hoping I can have another solid week and break into the Top 1k next week

DEF: Shaw, Simpson, Bartel, DBJ, Byrne, Brown (Ruggles, Brand)

MID: Danger, Pendles, Jelwood, Ward, Gray, Parker, Libba, Kerridge (Smith, Davis, Dunkley)

RUC: Goldy, NicNat

FWD: Zorko, Montagna, Buddy, Hall, Wells, Bennedy (Petracca, Papley)

I know I need to get in another prem def, but I've missed the boat on Docherty and Boyd so Laird at 490k looks to be the best pick

Priddis however is just screaming value at 502k, but either way I need to make a downgrade to generate funds and this is the obstacle I face as there are no great fwd downgrade options

Every option I look at means I will lose my MID/FWD DPP, but that should be OK if I go with the following idea

Papley to Paine/Redman and Bennedy to Priddis

Then next week Smith to Matho and DBJ and Laird

Not stoked with Matho, Davis and Dunkley as bench cover though  :-\ However I could eventually look to trade out Davis, move Petracca to mid bench and bring in a fwd or def via Brown if one presents itself so that could be a goer

Ideally I would like to keep my DPP but I just can't see an option where that's attainable. I'd like to have Hopper at M9, but again I don't see a great option that allows me to get him at M9 and upgrade elsewhere. I don't want him at M8 because with no DPP it will take too long before I can turn him and another mid bench player into a prem

AaronKirk

Prior to any trades this week mate how much cash do you have left?

Just the 30k

Have since changed plans

Going with Kerridge and Bennedy OUT - Hopper and Dusty IN

Next week I'll do Davis to Matho and then either next week (a week early) or the following week I'll do Papley to Collins via Brown

This gives me a fwd bench of Petracca/Brown and a mid bench of Smith/Matho/Dunkley so I am very happy with that

Will then turn Smith into a prem mid and move Hopper to M9

Not bothering with the back line for now - DBJ, Byrne etc will do and that's the last line I will upgrade because I am not paying 550k for the good defenders and it gives me more time to see who else looks good besides Docherty, Boyd, Rance and Laird

Really? Is this week to trade these guys??

The last 2 weeks have been nothing short of stinkers, dropping from 1700 overall to about 4500 now  :'(

But the good news is that with the byes coming up I still have plenty of time to turn things around and head towards the Top 1000

DEF: Shaw, Simpson, Bartel, DBJ, Byrne, Collins (Brown, Brand)

MID: Dangerfield, Pendlebury, Jelwood, Parker, Ward, Gray, Libba, Hopper (Smith, Davis, Dunkley)

RUC: Goldstein, Naitanui (Grimley)

FWD: Zorko, Montagna, Martin, Franklin, Hall, Wells (Sinclair, Petracca)

It's been a rough year with so many trades used on injuries and corrective trades earlier on so I am content with the fact that I won't beat last years 194th finish, but I'd still like to go as high as possible and defend my cash league premiership (Currently 1st)

Hall is a problem, but with Sinclair for ruck cover and Petracca I feel like my rucks and forward line are complete and I won't be doing anything there unless I get the luxury later on

Defence is obviously very weak, and I still need 1 prem mid, possibly 2 if Libba is to be upgraded

Only have 12 trades and about 120k left :(

I've neglected my backline for a while, and will continue to do so. I won't be able to afford guys like Docherty and Boyd so guys like Laird, Rance, Gibson, McVeigh etc are on my radar, but they can all wait a couple more weeks because the reality is I won't get maximum points for trade fielding them over DBJ etc

So, this week I am completing my midfield and I think Rocky has to come in. I wanted to see a few good weeks before I gave him yet another chance, but again with limited trades and funds I can't be splashing 600k on mids so Rocky at 500k is the best of a bleak situation

Thoughts as of today are:

This week: Brown to Lee (If named) and Smith to Rocky

Next week: Davis to Trengove and Hopper to Jansen. Won't make a 3rd trade as I need to be bringing in Rd11 defenders the following week

After those 4 trades I'd be left with 8 trades and approx 400k. I would then use that 400k to turn DBJ and Byrne into Rance and Laird which should still leave me with somewhere between 100-150k

100-150k and 6 trades left, and STILL a rookie at D6, but by the time that's all been done it shouldn't be too difficult to use that cash to uppgrade D6. I might even be able to upgrade Byrne and Collins/Brand instead and keep DBJ at D6 for longer, making it easier to complete last

So basically, should be able to complete with 4-5 trades left which will be for injuries, and then eventually luxuries like Libba to Ablett and Hall to Dahl etc

In terms of bye cover, I should be able to get at least 18 on the park each week with this approach

Just been one of those years  :-[

Bully

Solid plan, Rocky is great value at the moment and even (god forbid) he breaks down again then you should be in a position to buy any midfielder. So even in the worst case scenario you still make money.

As for as defenders are concerned, there's Rance who will be around 470k next week, he also has an excellent bye as far as premos are concerned. DBJ to Rance in round 14 looks good.

Laird would be my other choice, super consistent and plays round 15 which is very handy.

With these trades I think your team stacks up really well, Collins scored a ton last week so maybe he can nail down D6 in the interim.

I reckon your fortunes hinge on Hall turning things around, maybe he can in which case you'll be in a position to hit the top 1000.
