Profile

After Macrae's massive second season he solidified his reputation as a fantasy slut by backing up with another 104 average. This placed him as the 17th ranked midfielder for the year but just one extra tackle a game would have propelled him into 8th. This is what fantasy coaches would be hoping for if they choose to select him, just a slight improvement from a 21 year old ball magnet and he's a serious midfield keeper. From Rounds 10 through 18 this year he averaged a whopping 118.2 and he's pretty consistent too with only one score below 70 in his last 41 games. While two seasons at 104 could lead people to suggest he has peaked I think that's a silly notion, it seems more than likely at some stage he'll fire off a 110+ season and maybe it will be 2016. History says he can score just fine with Liberatore in the team so Liber coming back shouldn't be an issue and he's in that pile of young guns along with Steven, T.Mitchell, Hanners and Treloar who could be the dominant fantasy mids over the next four or five years. The only negative I can see is that the Bulldogs will be faced with a tougher draw in 2016 and Macrae averaged 98 against top 8 teams this year.

Pros - Ball magnet, good stats across the board, consistent

Cons - Can have patches of scoring sub 100, tougher 2016 draw

Prediction - 104-108

Watched an interview where he stated that he played a bit more of an inside role this season with Libba out and that he'll probably return to his usual outside roll when Libbas back, not sure whether this helps him or hurts him, his average in SC has been almost the same 99/100 last 2 years as well so it would seem he gets enough of the ball where ever he plays, reckon your prediction of another slight increase is on the money, probably wont be enough to justify starting him but he is the mid smokey i like the most. Nice review (except that part about people suggesting the 21yo has peaked)  ;)

I think what he's been lacking most is a little maturity.  Can be slow to get going in games but when he hits the accelerator there's no stopping him.  I'll be keeping a close eye on his attitude pre-season.
