Help to complete my team please!

Howdy Coaches!

After a tumultuous year I can see my team nearly finished! I need to make 4 trades I think, just not sure what order to make them in!

So, here's my team:

Shaw, Houli, Simmo, Newnes, Hibberd, Oxley (Brown, A.Pearce)
Fyfe, DanHan, Pendles, Armo, Ward, JPK, Rocky, Steele (Sloane, Dumont, Heeney)
Goldy, NicNat (Read)
Gray, Lids, Titch, Swan, Goddard, Lambert (Clark, McLean)

9 trades, 387k in kitty. So I need a defender, mid and forward.
Defender: Hard to look past Hodge, highest average and killing it at the moment. TMac another option - 10ppg less, KPP though - 100k cheaper??

Mid. YYYYYAAABBBBBBLLLLEEETTTTT. Definitely.

Forward - Glaringly I don't have Dusty, but with Bartel back and about to drop further in price I'm very strongly considering Bartel over Dusty...

I figure I can do this with 1 downgrade.

So I'm thinking this week OUT Oxley + Brown, IN Hodge and Maynard. - basically money neutral, leaves me with 385k.

Next week OUT Sloane + Clark, IN GAJ and Bartel. Sloane, Clark + $$$ should leave me 1,170,000 to spend.

The only worry with this is if Ablett goes out and smashes GWS this week how much might he rise in price (BE 119)? 700k Ablett leaves 470k for Bartel which should be affordable but not definite... I still think that's the best option though and I might need 1 more downgrade...

Alternately I could risk more this week and trade Heeney to Maynard - 40k less could be a lot in the end but it gives me a M/D swing link and more actually playing bench cover...

My bench cover could be pretty bad (rookies) but would have a reasonable M/F swing set and 5 trades so sit on...

Edit - obviously if I grab TMac instead of Hodge the money situation is more rleaxed, I just don't know if it's really worth it though...

I think the trades you have come up with are the best way to go

You could do the double upgrade this week, and then get Knight or someone next week, or pay more for Maynard. The points you get this week would outweigh the extra cash you spend on Maynard next week, but there might be other options at rookie prices anyway

You could also reverse the trades, as in get GAJ this week and Hodge next week

My only concern is Hodge has a BE of 30 odd, Ablett 119 so Hodge will almost definitely go up more than Ablett will. So I think it's really a case of Hodge vs TMac...

Considered the double upgrade but it leaves me with about 40k, if Maynard gets 60 he goes up ~50k which leaves me with 110 from Brown, 454k total to try and get Bartel - could be pushing it.

I think you're right, I'm probably sacrificing points this week but I think it's probably the safest option in terms of trying to get my team done in 4 trades rather than 5...

I can but this jeopardises finishing my forwards. Given that the rookies I have on my bench aren't doing much, this could mean I get more points this week, but then have to make 2 downgrades next week to fund an upgrade the following week - i.e. 2 more weeks of Lambert sub scores in my fwd line - so on the whole I don't think there's actually a gain doing it this way...

I might get lucky but it's a big risk, potential payoff is the difference between Steele and Abletts points this week, potential cost is an extra trade and extra week of the difference between Lambert and Dusty/Bartel's points... I don't think it's worth it.

Thanks PB. I think I can get just about anyone, it was just a case of how many trades it would take me and whose points I would get when...

This week Hodge and Maynard for Brown and Oxley, next week Ablett and Dusty/Bartel ($$ pending) for Clark and Sloane...
The only way this fails if if Ablett goes out and scores huge, as long as he doesn't massively exceed his 119 BE I think I'm ok :)

I really wanted to but Ablett has to come in in the very near future and Sloane's the only way I can do it. I was hoping Ablett might be a couple of weeks further off, and also I'm sure Swans said Heeney was coming back after byes - in my perfect world Heeney would have played a few more and the swap would be Heeney to Ablett to keep Sloane for finals bench/loophole, but it's not meant to be sadly :(

Sheesh couldn't have cut this much finer... After going Brown and Oxley to Maynard and Hodge, I can this week go Sloane and Clark to GAJ and Bartel with 3800 remaining... full team, 5 trades left. Feels good man, after the year to date!
