"Sad news out of the Gold Coast with Athlete,Olympian and former Mayor Ron Clarke passing away. Lovely man. "

May not mean much to our younger readers but a great man and athlete. Who can forget his 19 world records and some of his tussles with the African runners.  The biggest disappointment though was the fact he never won an Olympic Gold Medal.

Not sure whether he dabbled with Rules like his father and brother for Essendon.

Great man and spent the majority of his later years on the Gold Coast and was mayor of that city from 2004 to 2012.
