Scrads

Okay so weird spot, I named Port players from the Thursday game but didn't name a team before tonight's lockout.

My team from last round was:

B: Ibbotson, Kolodjashnij, J.Gibson, Duryea
M: Ebert(C), Shiels, Stanton, Masten
R: Martin
F: Gunston, Breust, Wingard, Crisp
U: Shiel, Schulz

E: B.Vince(M), Merrett(F), Sutcliffe(B), Leuenberger(R)

The team I named on Thursday was:

B:
C: Ebert(VC),
R:
F: Wingard
U:

E: Schulz (F)

The players I named Thursday HAVE to be locked in, but that means I can't just simply take last rounds team. What I'll do is add in the players from tonight's game that were played last round and pick the rest of my side around that.

B: J.Gibson, Duryea, Ibbotson, Kolodjashnij
C: Ebert(VC), Shiels, Masten(C), Stanton
R: Leuenberger
F: Wingard, Gunston, Breust, Crisp
U: Watson, Shiel

E: B.Vince (M), Schulz (F), Z.Williams (B), West (R)

Round 9 Results

Belgian Bashers 148 DEFEATED Belarus Bison 113
Bashers just too strong for the Bison. Lifted by Neale's + Cotchin's heroic performance in the midfield, they dismantled the Bison with only Mitchell and Darling really putting their mark on the scoreboard. Bison weren't helped with 2 starter-sub players + 5 other players who didn't even crack 50! Even if they did, reckon the Bashers would have been too strong.

Macedonian Wolves 142 DEFEATED Greek Titans 123
Wolves loved Leu's performance on the weekend! One of their few standouts which really was a team effort with Jobe Watson their lowest score with 52, a handy HGA! Titans coaches would be kicking themselves! They changed Gawn as solo ruck and Longer to the backline, which resulted in Longer scoring MORE than Gawn despite OOP (119 would have been full). Wouldn't have won them the game, but food for thought come the next few weeks. Hannebery scored huge with 292 as Captain, but not enough to lift them over the Wolves, who've built up quite the season thus far.

Svalbard Valkyries 138 DEFEATED Hungarian Hippos 119
Hippos put on another solid score, lifted by Goldy and Parker and had others perform fairly well. Curnow been in good form for them and slots well into M4. Svaldbard though were able to come away with the victory despite 3 scores below 50. How they managed that? Everybody else in their team scored 80+, so really helped carry those who had a down week. So a great team display shown there to not a few tear down the team.

English Lions 160 DEFEATED Swiss Storm 127
Huge win by the Lions! Midfield was just unstoppable and had contributors from all over the ground. They cracked the 160 mark even with an OOP ruck! Scary stuff for when finals roll round :-X. Storm have some good pieces, just need to continue building on them in the off season, but hardly a competitive match here.

Russian Roulettes 143 DEFEATED Croatian Crushers 132
Forwards and utilities put on a solid effort for the Crushers, and not to mention they were hurt by having to play an OOP Ruck. Russia were lifted by the return of Ablett and put on a solid all round effort as only 3 players reached the ton but they were able to grab the victory.

Iceland Polar Bears 123 DEFEATED BY Serbian Eagles 150
Dempsey scored 8... In the entire game.... Just to cap off a pretty meh week for Iceland. No ruck, forwards underperformed but Midfield only real shining light along with David Swallow's return! Shame Serbia was just too strong top scoring this round! When they had 8 players crack 90 including Pendles 304 as Captain and 143 from Boyd, really showing they are still a force to be reckoned with. Also still had Weller as OOP, so got his 102 halved.

Spanish Stallions 148 DEFEATED  Swedish Metal 131
Loopholing JPK's 152 as Vice Captain was a great idea by the Spanish coaching panel, backed up with 4 other centurions, proved too strong for the Metal to handle. Not like the Metal did too badly themselves, just not able to keep up with the Raging Stallions. Captain Montagna going strong and Blicavs a great ruck to have, but their forwards severely let them down.
