It's good to be back!  As always, I appreciate any and all opinions, so don't be shy when you come to rate my team.  Here's my first crack for the season.

well as a rival, it's hopeless :P

Not overly convinced about Hodge, but we'll see how it goes (apparently he does really well in premiership years, will that be the case in 2015?)
Hibberd is pretty stock standard, you get what you pay for
Not overly convinced about Smith, but we'll see what NAB throws up (particularly with Rhenderson returning, and a new coach)
Not taking advantage of the midpriced mania (Ibbo, Seeds, Mayes, Rhenderson, Yeo) - but if you're happy with that structure, then so be it
Likewise rookies pending NAB form (and rd1 selections)

Can't fault M1 to M4 (even if I only have 1 of them myself) and taking advantage of those new club/ injury return players (Newton, Rich and VB) could see dividends early doors

Ruckline is risky in case of early injury (although I do note Belly in the fwds as a switch option) especially as I don't think Cox will play at all this year

3 Richmond players in the fwd line seems a little excessive - not that 2 of them will be playing there anyway (although Lids is set for a similar amount of fwd time as last year)
Personally got burnt on Goddard last year, so I'd look elsewhere (more bad memories than anything else) - but if you're happy, then fair enough
Think Swan has faded, but still think he'll average over 100 (102 for a number if pushed - think Greenwood, Crisp and Adams will get more mid time personally) so it's a worthwhile choice

Like I said, looking pretty generic with rooks, and obviously they're pending rd1 selections (and NAB form)

Haha, I was going to use my alt account to post this team up as well because I know you post here (plus I've seen Helfie and PL here at various times as well).

Hodge is fairly consistent and, tbh, the backs are the hardest to pick this year.  For B1 it was between Hodge and Malceski, but I went with Hodge for now.  Hibberd is good for your 80-95, so it's like you said, you get what you pay for.  With Smith, it was again a toss up as I was debating whether to go with him or Newnes.  I think with the backline being a little light on this year I like the look of going Premo/Rooks.  Waters is technically a mid priced player, but we all know what he can do when he plays for a good chunk of the season.

I only went with Rocky because I had a heap of cash left over.  I had Toby Greene in there originally but realised I had the coin to upgrade to an uber premo.  I think Rocky will do well, but I'm still not convinced if I should start with him at that price.

Yeah, it's a bit of a risk/reward type of thing.  Both have scored well in the past, it's really just whether or not they can last the season.  The only reason Cox is there is to allow Bellchambers to swing in for at least a bit of insurance (if Bellchambers gets the nod, of course).

Lids and Dusty will score well, so I'm not worried about those two.  I have Lennon there for now because I think he may get more game time this year.  It's definitely one to watch during NAB, and if it doesn't look promising I can easily trade him out.  If he does do well and gets some good early price rises then he'll be long gone before the byes anyway.[/quote]

Swan is on the decline, but as a forward we only need to him average 100 for him to be a steal.  He won't get a 120-130 average, but I think it's a win-win situation.  A poor season by his standards will still see him rank in the top 5-6 forwards and if he finds his old form and can go 110+ then that would be amazing.  It's the same deal with Goddard too.  If he was a pure mid I wouldn't even entertain the thought.

Mr.Craig

The two issues I see are with Hodge who I think will be managed and miss 4-5 games throughout the year and secondly by picking Rocky and Ablett you've exposed yourself to two rookies in the backs and I think that will take away most, if not all, of the advantage you'd be getting by having Rocky. So, my suggestion would be to downgrade him and turn one of those back rookies into a mid pricer.

Aside from that I can't fault it.

Barra13

Only issue is if Rocky averages the same or even lets say 120 at the end of the year, somewhere along the line you will need to upgrade to him. I know I'd probably battle to try and afford him later on. I think personally starting with him is the best move. Hanley is also on the sidelines for  a while which makes it more appealing.

Chelskiman

With news that Waters isn't travelling as well as we would have hoped I've had to re-shuffle my team a bit.  As always, opinions are more than welcome!

With news that the big Special K is out I've had to play around with my team.  This is what I've come up with.

Backs: Pretty stock, personally I think the hype on Newnes is a bit much, but have seen the stats so who knows?
Mids: Solid premos, Vandenberg still needs to be upgraded though.
Rucks: Stock again with the Belly link.
Forwards: Haven't seen many teams with Gray and Smith but can obviously back it up. Swan and Martin are must haves.

AaronKirk

It's only a matter of time until Vandenberg is upgraded and now with Petracca out for the season there are 2 spots available for promotions off the rookie list at Melbourne.

I'd be weary of GWS players. They will be fighting over points like mad and we really don't know how it will play out.

Obviously a very solid side with a good structure.

Chelskiman

I had another play around because Berger has been scaring me lately.  Decided to put two premo rucks in from the start.  The old set and forget rule.  I made a few other changes too, because once I started playing around I couldn't stop, haha.  Thoughts?

Hey mate looks a solid team

Def: Really like Kelly as a POD, have him myself atm, I am unsure WhiteX is in Hawks best 22 and he should be at d6, with a lack of defence rookies I think we should prepare for the worst now so not to be caught out when only a few are named for round 1
Mids: Top premium choices, 3 round 12 bye players is something to keep an eye on. Very solid line.
Rucks: Great rucks, the 2 most durable premiums, Lobb is pricey but second inline at GWS so will get games at times knowing Mummy's durability
Fwd: Great line

Only area to fix is the backline consider Pearce/Jacobs as cheapies, perhaps downgrade Rich, I don't believe 3x200k+ rooks are necessary

Best of luck

Chelskiman

I had another play around with my team as things start to become more clearer.  There's still a few question marks surrounding some players (Leuenberger being the main one) but I feel happy with this team.  Of all the teams I've posted in this thread I feel most comfortable with this one.

Backs: Not sure on Kelly, the rest have had a decent NAB campaign. What is the go with McIntosh? Am I missing something? Solid rooks.
Mids: Good premos and rooks, maybe lacking a Rich/NVB. I'd be weary of Anderson, solid NAB but a hard 22 to get into.
Rucks: Love Goldy as a premo, I've had him the last 2 years and just gets the job done. Only thing is no cover which you could pay a price in DT where trades are gold.
Forwards: Can't really fault. Love Bartel.

Love it as its very close to my side atm. Our forward line is exact. I havent got Leuy though or Kelly and Geary is in and out for me. Griffin is interesting as I really havent thought of him as GWS's midfield is so choka full of talent. Ill keep tabs on your side over the next week.
