Profile

If there's any player capable of "doing a Macrae" and breaking out big time in his second season it's Kelly. Even in a midfield that boasts many young stars he was able to shine the brightest during periods of the year and could well be on his way to becoming a champion. Josh's fantasy credentials go back to his TAC days where he averaged 84.3 as a bottom-ager and a massive 112.6 in his final year (from six games).

Four sub vests, including a score of 0 will see him remain in mid priced territory for 2015, his unsubbed average was 81.3 so he is significantly under priced even before you factor in the potential to improve further next season. An average of 113.3 from his last 3 games only adds to the excitement. $395,000 is a lot to pay but just like Macrae you have to risk it to get the biscuit.

Pros - Big ball winner, can kick goals, unlikely to get tagged

Cons - Price

Prediction - 83-88

400k for a 2nd year player
ooof

if Griff ends up there too, I reckon it'll harm his scoring potential
pass from me

good write up though :)

Sweetness

Yeah the Griff factor is an interesting one.

Will keep an eye on, might be worth a punt in Fantasy. not RDT.

Spinking

Craig on the money that he is a good bet to make an unusual 2nd year breakout. Will depend a bit on who is still around at the end of trade week - Shiel has been talked about moving and this would give him greater opportunity, but can still see him really improving in the current lineup.

I don't think I'm ever going to pick 2nd year players that aren't heavily discounted lol, if someone does a mccrae well I'll just cop it. Hope he has a good year, but won't be going near him.

Yeh I'm the same mate. Rather wait and see with 2nd year players

Football Factory

I have him at F4 at the moment, Bellchambers 5, Clark 6. Gives you a little more cash to splash elsewhere.

Kelly will make money on the back of scoring well and be an easy upgrade , i also like his bye(13)

Last 3 games (R21)140,(R22)117,(R23)83 he showed what he is capable of and with another pre-season behind him he can only get better imo.

Played 18 games in his first season.

My team at the moment is the way it is through the lack of cheap rookies but this could all change at any time.

Heraldsun currently has him in GWS best 22

GWS GIANTS

B: Joel Patfull, Tim Mohr, Adam Tomlinson

HB: Heath Shaw, Phil Davis, Curtly Hampton

C: Stephen Coniglio, Adam Treloar, Dylan Shiel

HF: Josh Kelly, Jeremy Cameron, Lachie Whitfield

F: Devon Smith, Jonathon Patton, Will Hoskin-Elliott

FOLL: Shane Mumford, Callan Ward, Ryan Griffen

I/C: Tom Scully, Toby Greene, Rhys Palmer, Adam Kennedy

Yes there are risks, i guess it depends on where you want to take them. Still a long time to go and one to keep an eye on.

I posted this in the Supercoach section before by mistake lol .. didn't want to waste it   ;D

PS. I started with Macrae last year. Kelly will be my risk this year (at the moment)

Hagebear

I think I'm likely to start with this kid this year. Too much upside to ignore. WILL improve his average, won't be tagged, is in their best 22, another full pre season under his belt, and is a ball magnet! Griffen coming won't hurt Kelly. If anything means GWS will have the ball in their possession more. Won't lose money so worst case scenario you can use him as a fallen premo stepping stone.
