A backline Premo and Rookie should be around 620k

There are many backline midpricers such as:

Rohan
Geary
Roberton
Gilbert
Seedsman
Vlaustuin

Who can all go 75-90

Say we have hibberd and vickers-willis

Hibbo 95 V-W 60 = 155

Mid pricers such as Geary and Rohan could score 85 each which is 170.

A premo and rookie would need 2 trades to upgrade while two midpricers could need 2-3 trades to upgrade.

The question is are the extra trades worth 10-15 points which will equate to 110-165 points till the byes?

If you pick the right rookies they can both get to 350k and defenders tend to drop to 400-430...
If your rookies get to that price you may only need 3 trades for 2 upgrades whilst also still having those extra important points.

If you can find 2 mid-pricers that will go 85, go for it.

In the more likely scenario that they go around 70-75 each, they'll a) lose you points, and b) become 2 players that need upgrading.

That's a big could, because there is every chance these mid pricers don't push mid 80's, requiring more trades, or meaning even less points

I reckon a trade is worth about 100k and or 20 points per week, so based on your analysis a premo and rookie is much more viable for mine

Trades are gold.

The cash generating rookies are usually mids and forwards.

Defensive rookies are always a massive pain.

IMO it is imperative in 2015 to load up in the defence. Pick who you think are the best 4 premo defenders and pick them. have Waters or Ibbo at D5 and then try and find 3 rookies to go with.

Take risks elsewhere. People will be burned massively if they go too POD in the defence.

I'm thinking almost the exact opposite. There's a lot of value in midpricers at the back, and prem defenders don't typically score huge points anyway so from a points perspective I think you're better off loading up lines elsewhere. There are a lot of defenders who can score much better than they're priced at, players priced in the 50s and 60s who can score 80+, so why not pick them? Lose maybe 15-20 points per week against premo defenders scoring 95-100, but the money you're saving goes into other lines...

How many Saints can you put in a back line? :P Newnes, Fisher, Geary, Roberton, Gilbert, Goddard - reasons to pick them all but You've gotta consider who's going to get games consistently as well as who is good value for money...
Vlastuin bit of a risk, was a great rookie pick in his first year but there's no value in his price tag now. And Rohan is not a 75-90 player!!

Rohan getting over 80? Better chances of Tambling getting another AFL gig.
