COLLINGWOOD
Draft selections: 5, 9 (father-son selection Darcy Moore), 30, 48, 85.
What we said before the draft: If they can find a couple of medium midfielders to add to their mix it would be ideal, having already secured tall Darcy Moore as a father-son.
What happened? The Pies clearly addressed their midfield needs by picking Jordan De Goey, a hard and tough half-forward who will become a full-time midfielder in time. Brayden Maynard is even more physical, while Matthew Goodyear was long on their radar and adds excellent athleticism. Those three, plus Moore already sorted, would make for a happy Pies' recruiting team.

Do you think the Pies can recover after losing two quality players like Harry and Beams. To climb up the ladder you have to improve every year. The question is "is Collingwood a better team this season?"
I picture Geelong without Selwood and Harry Taylor. Who have you got that can fill their shoes now, not in a few seasons?

Ricochet

Greenwood and Varcoe? Add in the boys that missed a lot of last year through injury like Reid and co. Personally I think Pies will be better

They should be better. The question is will they improve by as much as others.

They will be better in the long run but Beams leaves a gaping hole, hard to expect Greenwood to just step up to the plate. On the flipside, De Goey & Maynard are ready-made and should see plenty of early action. Overall I rated Collingwood's draft as excellent, they have played the percentages and have targeted guys with strong inside credentials.
