What sort of pokemon from those 3 types were you looking at Nige?

I'm not sure how many new pokemon they added in the different areas now
Idk, I usually like my Pokemon to have good attack/spatk and decent speed (which all three of those types usually have).

Get Donphan?
Yeah, Donphan is one I'm considering.

Nige

So I got Donphan, need to still get a fire or fighting type. I think I know who I'm getting now though.

Did you ever use Infernape back in Gen 4? As Gen 4 starters were the least recent ones, you could cover both types and get a bit of nostalgia if you have no opposition to using traded Pokemon? I could breed you one fairly easily if you want.

Yeah, I did. It was pretty good. That's the thing though, not a fan of trading in Pokemon. Rather catch and raise them myself.

Besides...

Spoiler
If I really want one, I won't even have to trade one in, I'll get one later in the game after defeating the Elite Four

who has sapphire and will help me complete the dex trade version exclusives and then trade back?

I do and will be willing when I eventually finish the story but it might be a little while as I've moving interstate so fairly busy. Nige could probably help you before I get around to it.

That or use the GTS! But you obviously can't trade back with that :-\

Nige

Eh, I really don't like trading at all, plus I don't even have my 3DS connected to the WiFi.

LaHug

Well then, I guess we'll have to wait for me :)

Spoiler
Legit spent 3 hours trying to get a Sawk but couldn't find one, ended up getting a Tyrogue which I evolved into a Hitmonlee, should hopefully do the job.

AFEV

Finished the game a couple of days ago and have been testing out shiny hunting with dexnav since (with little success).
I have to say, even for a Pokemon game, this feels like the most on-rails experience I've ever had in a Pokemon game.

With the Gen VI experience mechanics, my entire team was wildly overleveled by the mid-game with no grinding whatsoever. My starter, beldum and skarmory were all level 50 shortly after picking up the 6th gym badge, and I breezed through every single NPC battle and wild battle without any trouble whatsoever. The experience needs to be retooled again next generation I feel. It is fine to have the experience share effect every pokemon in the party, but divide the experience between them instead of effectively multiplying experience yields by however many pokemon you carry in your party.

The way you get insta-transported to whatever part of the map is relevant to the story is infuriating. When I originally played ruby and emerald, I liked that there was more backtracking than in the other games, it felt refreshing compared to the 'I've beaten this town, now I'll go to the next town' rhythm that was established in the previous two generations.

Now you're sent straight to wherever you need to go to advance the campaign by weird blackouts. Sure, it stops you from having to trudge back through Petalburg Woods or through wherever you've been before, but it just makes it feel like your hand is being held the whole way.

Now, I understand that the campaigns of pkmn games were never supposed to me challenging, but christ, this feels grossly oversimplified.

But still, I'm glad the Hoenn remakes finally arrived :*
The new megas are definitely cool and the game is aesthetically much nicer than X/Y, the DexNav is incredible fun and I am so glad they made HA's/IVs so much more accessible with it. I don't trust it for shiny hunting though.

I did get two shiny croagunks today chaining in XY though after rage quitting from my alpha sapphire cartridge. :P
