Michael Clarke at his press conference this morning announced he will retire from One Day International cricket after the final tomorrow against New Zealand.

He has had a brilliant ODI career, being apart of the 2007 world cup win and being a crucial member of the side for the last 12 odd years.

Clarke has played 244 ODI matches, scoring 7907 runs at an average of 44.42 and a strike rate of 78.81. Scoring 57 half-centuries and 7 tons, with a career best of 130 against India in Bangalore in 2007.

The decision is the right decision. Clarke can hopefully prolong his career until the next ashes series in Australia whilst we can groom Steve Smith as the next captain. Hopefully Clarkey can go out with a bang and lift the trophy come Sunday night.

*Waits for BP to come in* :P

All jokes aside, Clarkey is a true Aussie great of the modern era. Leaving the OD form as a top batsman and probably one of the best in the world.

Well done Clarkey, go get em' tomorrow.

Great way from Pup to finish his ODI career, 8000 runs would've just been extra icing on the already iced cake.

Hopefully can play on for another 2 years or so in tests :)
