COLLINGWOOD ruckman Brodie Grundy says he would welcome Dean Cox to the Magpies next season, if the West Coast champion could be coerced to shelve his retirement plans.

There has been speculation the Pies might try to lure 33-year-old Cox to Melbourne to replace playing-ruck coach Ben Hudson, 35, who is a strong chance to retire at season's end.

"That's the first I've heard of it, but obviously it would be pretty nice to shift 'Huddo' aside and get Dean Cox on board," Grundy joked on Friday.
