NOTE: The Duffield - Trengove/Scully option will leave me with 3 of the 6 mids to be first year players

Well obviously.. To not have experience in the most important part of your team is pretty risky.

Yes - very high risk strategy.  If you want to win a league it could work.  To get a high overall postion you have to score pretty well from the start.  Most points come from midfield.  This has to be balanced with improving value of your team but you will lose more points with rookies in the midfield.
