The issue isn't necessarily for the fans, but more for any practising christians in the afl.

If there was a higher proportion of jews/ muslims playing, we'd probably be hearing about more holidays that football shouldn't be played on.

I'm still not a fan of the idea for that reason- footballers already have to work on other public holidays like easter monday, easter, anzac day, the queens birthday, give them one off so the large portion of them that are religious can pay their respects.

*cue everyone saying football isn't real work, they get paid enough etc. etc.*
