I think the difference with having Cutler/Litherland is the extra 100-150k over a 102k player means it is easier to upgrade in the event you do need that D7. Plus theres a chance they will play, compared to the 102k player.

Yep, it's basically shutting down a position for half a season, Litherland or Cutler could easily become Grimes or Carlisle in the event that disaster strikes. Sideways trading a 102k player will be incredibly difficult.

Like I've said, I would love to get Litherland, but cannot afford it

Ricochet

Can you wait a week on the upgrade?

RaisyDaisy

It means I need to use an extra trade though, and I don't think Litherland and having a playing D8 is worth an extra trade

As it sits, I can use 3 trades to bring in 102k, Jaensch and Stevie J, and also keeping Taylor who has very good JS and DPP

If I get Litherland, than I need an extra trade to get 2 prems in

I've looked at if from every angle, and of course I would prefer a playing, money making player at D8, but I do believe it's a position that can be left dead

I will only have 1 upgrade left after this - Shenton, and with guys like Taylor, Cameron, Impey, Bews, O'Brien I shouldn't have a problem funding my final upgrade

Maybe best to bring in a D7 with intentions of trading Langford/Cutler to Mitchell when the time arises. I've mentioned both Carlisle, Docherty & Grimes as solid options, all are bargain priced at the moment.

It probably won't be just the one position, it will be 2  in the very near future. Your choice of course but I would be getting a mid pricer and then look at trading up to Mitchell (something which you will do with Jaensch anyway).

Now that Stevie J has scored 84 and will drop to about 516k, I can spend 123k on a def rookie so don't need to get a 102k rookie

So, do I just grab a 102k rookie and save the 20k, or do I pick Aylett who has played 2 games for Essendon or L Thompson who is an emergency this week for Adelaide as there is a remote chance they might play this year. They are both 123k

Don't bank on Aylett. Cant comment on Thompson, but would probably need an injury to a key defender.
Possibly JHunt to keep the option of a Grimes DPP cover open?

RaisyDaisy

Ended up just grabbing a 102k

Figured Aylett and Thompson would barely get a game anyway, so either way it's a donut long term so I saved the 20k

In the coming weeks I will upgrade Bews to a 200-300k player for JS and cover

Nice plain RD - Really down on myself as I was going to do Bews to Docherty for this reason and then seen bews named and thought I make some would extra cash as well as hold a trade and Docherty would not rise much - Plan was then to use Suckers, Cutler, and Docherty as D6 - D8.  Bad decision.

Floating donut too, would be very handy indeed.

I currently have Langford and Bews on my bench in my backs. Will be trading LAngford out once he makes a bit more money although if he doesnt get game time he might go earlier
