QuoteTROUBLED Fremantle youngster Josh Simpson will take an indefinite leave of absence from football, effective immediately.

The Dockers announced on their website on Wednesday afternoon that Simpson is set to undertake a personal development program designed to address both personal and professional matters outside of football.

The program outlined for the 20-year-old includes guidelines and protocols that he must strictly adhere to. It will be overseen by the club with input from the AFL Players' Association and Simpson's management, as well as external counsellors and experts.

Simpson will not train or play at any level while undertaking the program, and there is no timeframe given for his leave of absence.

Unless the program is less than a few minutes it wouldn't be a very wise decision.

He's as good as gone, just give his spot to someone who actually wants it

As Valk said this kid has a bucketload of talent. Unfortunately I can't see him being apart of Freo in the future.
Really hope they help him with his personal and family issues though

A lot of people said the same thing about Michael Walters - now look at him.

Yeh Son-son had a bit more stability behind him with his WAFL club and family though, being a local helped as well. Think Simpson's issues from home are a bit bigger from what I understand

valkorum

That might be true but we still have to give him a chance to work it out before writing him off
