Brad Ebert or Jobe Watson?

I could get either to replace Ellis ... who's the best choice for the rest of the year?

Noz

Obviously im going to be labeled as being biased here but i generally think Brad Ebert.

Watson just hasn't looked like himself this year (Maybe those peptides are wearing off  :P) all jokes aside though, Watson has delegated the midfield work to both Heppell and Goddard even more this year and his fantasy scores have been suffering as of this. He is also spending more time forward this year than in the past maybe the interchange rule is hampering him much like Swan?

Ebert on the other hand has been one of the best players this year. Lowest score of the year was against North in which he just faded out of the game after having 9 touches in the first quarter went on to collect another 14 for the game, A huge reason as to why we lost.

I would just want to see more from Watson before i completely commit and right now Ebert is in good as form as anyone in RDT.

Mr.Craig

To add to what Noz said, Ebert is only 24 and he has played 22, 21, 22 and 22 games in the last 4 years. Both players had 9 scores over 110 last season. The only concern with Ebert is his scoring in losses - an 89.2 average last year compared to Jobe's 106.3 and as it happens Ebert's only sub 100 score so far this year was in the loss to NM.

Port's next 5 are Geelong, GWS, Freo, Hawthorn and Melbourne so there's the potential for 2 or 3 losses in there. He only averaged 88.2 vs Geel, Freo and Haw last year. He hasn't scored well against GWS in previous games but did have a nice 129 vs Melb.

I started off this post thinking I was going to convince you Ebert was a great pick but having looked at those numbers I'm less sure. Was going to pick him up in AF this week but might reconsider. :-\

The problem Watson faces is in the next two weeks he faces an uphill battle against some of the best taggers in the game. Though tagging Heppell worked well for the the saints on the weekend i still feel opposing teams should be tagging Watson first.

Macaffer this weekend, Caf has proven himself to be one of the best taggers in the game keeping guys like Jack, Johnson, Cotchin and Dal Santo all quiet this year and claiming numerous victims last year.

Mitch Walls the week after. Wallis is still a very good tagger he proved that last year by claiming some of the biggest names in the game, Has already beaten Shuey, Wells and to a lesser extent kept Ward quiet this year.

I reckon Watson still has a lot of money to leak and may be prime for the picking after his bye.

Noz & Mr Craig, great posts, great info. Makes me feel just as unsure as before, but with more information explaining why I feel that way!

I'm leaning towards Watson - proven performer over many years. Ebert could be the Watson of next year or the year after - he is an amazingly talented player who has found his home!

Get on Brad Ebert over Watson easily.

Did you know Ebert has only scored under 70 once while at Port Adelaide?

Consistent, has a high ceiling and is breaking out this year to a 105 avg (at least)

Watson has produced several sub-70 efforts in that time.

Who Ebert? If you watch games this year you would relise he has been much better with his disposal efficiency this year than in the past.

Ahah yeah i know Noz. Just kiddin around mate. I just remember how bad of a kick he was at Eagles. Now we have Scott selwood kicking the shockers...

Noz

Oh yeah he was a pretty bad kick last year he went many games under 45% efficiency which isn't even under 12s standard. He has improved and is averaging 75% which is good to see.

Watson was a shocking kick and he eventually won a brownlow.

Yeahh massive improvement.. Yeah a lot different sort of players but! Would put Boak or hatlett in front of Ebert for a brownlow..
