What's people's thoughts on Jack Billings ?
Tyson - Billings
Same bye round as Tyson
Extra cash
Plays Brisbane this round

With games against Brisbane , Haw , Carlton & Gold coast before there bye.
If all goes to plan both billings & Dunstan will go up in value before the round 10 bye then it will be the perfect upgrade down grade after round 9.

Toga

Was thinking of jumping on next week, was very good in his first full game!

RookieDTer

Have a read of Jeppas Juniors that came out today.

Why is everyone deadset on trading in rookies over the 200k mark?!?!  Waste of cash, basement dollar guys are where its at!

me

js/scoring potential is vitally important, in particular cos we will have all our rookies representing during the bye rounds

guess if you're going for league wins, it don't matter

Jroo

Mid/Fwd too, which is pretty handy. I'm certainly considering.

I'm definitely going for league this year for the first time in awhile and agree that js is the most important factor, but making cash has always been more important than scoring potential in league or overall and it has always been the case.  Guns and cheapest rooks with good js has always been the winning formula.  This year I agree its a bit different due to the higher pricing of rookies and the ability to spend an extra 20-30k on a rook that also has scoring potential, hence the Dunstan, Tyson Crouch type of guys, however in importance I think its 3rd to JS and cash flow.

You pay more for the JS this year, Apart from Polec who are the other cheap rookies to score consistently this year?

I'm not interested in scoring consistently.  Just play so you can make money and ditch when you're done.  Langdon, Langford, Polec, Xellis, Cunningham, Griffiths and these are only the guys I've looked at personally, I know there are others, but not sure what their starting prices were.  Plus there will be more to come, I'll be holding out for guys like Honeychurch, Hallahan cos the 100k I save on these rooks is way more valuable when upgrading than a average score of 10pts more.

Jvalle, if the player doesn't score consistently.. You're not going to make much money off them.

We are unfortunate that there are no cash cows available this week, & besides Honeychurch, the next month is looking grim.

I'm going Robertson over Billings, JS is better & more cash for a Tyson upgrade

I don't think scoring conistently is the right way to put it.  Someone could be scoring 20pts per week consistently and that is NOT good.  At this stage the only guy I'd consider bringing in over 200k would be Crouch, midfielder who we know is a gun.

LF

I just think he is too expensive to get
This week you`d have to go with Robertson he has looked good in his first 2 games and is still fairly cheap and has better JS than someone like Gray.

Spinking

Will be an awesome player, but big move to jump on after a single good game. Racked up a majority of his points in a 15 min period, and went missing for quite a bit. Probably won't get a lot of mid time either.

Better options available for me...

That wasn't really what I was implying, but good scores need to be made regularly in order to generate cash, look at the poor souls who start georgio. Bench cover yes but he doesn't score enough to make any money. If this was a one off for Billings (already has a high BE for a downgrade and an inflated price tag) you could see yourself making barely anything.

In my opinion, BE is too high & price tag is already to high and he hasn't done anything to prove selection besides an 88 in a fluke win over Essendon, I wouldn't say is JS is that good either. I know confirmation bias may reign supreme but Robertson (I would go as far to say Sheed with his decreased price tag and if his JS has improved due to last week) has better JS & are somewhat significantly cheaper. Waiting a week and going Honeychurch may even be more viable. Remember the pick in the draft means nothing in regards to DT & I think the fact he is a no. 3 pick is going to divert people from looking at alternatives. In all honesty.. If you're willing to pay that much for a downgrade you're better off subbing Danger, Dusty etc. into the midfield and picking up Fasolo for $30-40k more, averaged +70 in the past, showing better form & most importantly strong JS & negative breakeven (making him a far more logical choice & in theory more cost effective). New role is also agreeing with him whilst Billings still doesn't even have an assigned role. If he doesn't repeat the performance this week I can say with confidence Billings will either leak cash or make $30ish k at most. Seriously $239k & a 32 BE with no js is ridiculous in my opinion. Robertson even has a negative BE, strong JS, he's a better scorer (thus far) & most importantly is significantly cheaper. I don't have anything against the kid but he is honestly one of the last options I'd 'resort' (not choose) to this week.

Just doesn't seem practical and I think that next if he starts Templeton won't be wearing the red vest...
