Just want to point out that Daniel Jackson is injured according to the newspaper. Not sure if he will miss weeks but the commentators on the radio after the game seemed to think so.
So I would not be surprised if he pumps out a 100 average until the bye.
That being said, I am going to trade him for Crouch because of bye balance
Same bye aren't they? Or am I on another page..

haha same bye mate, just assuming you have a nice bye set up, trading players for like bye players is a good idea haha

Depends how you use the additional cash, freeing up over 200k is critical at this point, I'm not suggesting that Thomas is the only viable option, but he has the round 8 bye which must be of slight concern. Crouch should gain 150k over the next 3 weeks, Thomas may only make 50k. The points will also be negligible given Adelaide's opponents are all cellar dwellers. With an eye to the byes I think it's imperative that people look towards building up their reserves to the 500k mark. It effectively means that 3 premos can be brought in round 9 & 10, guys like Swan, Griffen, Cotchin, Petrie, Cloke & Franklin will all have significant discounts and will no doubt be a serious interest to those vying for top spot.

Yeah think it's just different strategies, though I wouldn't be banking on Crouch getting tons just because they have cellar dweller opponents

I think he'll average 80 from this point, that should see him gain 150k+. When people do their calculations on players profits, they should also consider how much is being banked with each transaction. Instead of saying that Thomas has only made 110k therefore is unworthy of a trade at this point, they should instead be looking at how much is going into the coffers. In this instance it is 240k, money which can be used to bring in a keeper. Thomas will probably outscore Crouch by 20 points a game, but upgrading say Caddy to Riewoldt will more than make up the difference. Then there's the extra 100k that Crouch will earn over the next 3 weeks. The cheap cash cows will almost certainly dry up after this current batch, I strongly believe that those who are in a position to downgrade should take this opportunity. The good times won't last forever.

Summed up my thinking in one paragraph.

Downgrading Thomas will put $240 in the bank but is actually also worth more than the $110k he's made. In total I figure Thomas to Crouch will net me $200k ($110K + $65k extra Crouch will make by round 8 + not losing the $25K that Caddy will drop this week)

On top of that....

Polec comes on field who should average similar (or slightly less than Thomas) - Crouch on the pine

But NRoo on the field should average 50-60 more than Caddy

I'm all for cashing in cash cows slighly early if it allows you to bring in a premo or two.

I did the same thing last year and it worked wonders bringing in premos earlier than other coaches which gave me an edge.

Next week for example I plan to go Tyson > Lloyd via Taylor mpp and Ellis > S.Gray and then the week after Webster > Hibberd and Langdon > Simpson.

Backline will nearly be complete then -

Mitchell, McVeigh, Enright, Simpson, Hibberd, McDonald (Langford, Georgiou)   8)

Swallow or Bartel will come in for McDonald after round 8 bye mate.  8)
