THE BRISBANE Lions will carry no scars into Saturday's opening round clash against Hawthorn despite being humiliated by the reigning premiers just five weeks ago, Matthew Leuenberger says.

The Hawks dismantled an inexperienced Lions outfit by 131 points during the NAB Challenge, but Leuenberger says that will have no bearing in Launceston.

The Lions fielded a virtual NEAFL team on that occasion, and Leuenberger says the influx of experience will make a huge difference.

"I don't think so," the ruckman said when asked about the chance of carrying scars into the match.

"We'd like to think with a more mature side, more experience, we'll put together a far better effort than round one of the NAB.

"We'd hope it's quite a different look to what we gave the Hawks a month ago.

"When you play with senior guys, more experienced guys, as a player with inexperience, it makes a world of difference."

Have mentioned before I think this game will be a lot closer than people think

Most Brisbane supporters knew this already.  part of the planning for round 1 to protect the Senior players from flying all over the country in the first 2 weeks Launceston toCairns for the first 2 matches.

We will see this week whether the strategy was worth it and bear in mind had a sold hit out last week.

And as you know I am tipping a brisbane win because of Hwaks possible complacency and Grand Final let down.
