Ok guys so here I am with about my 10th side I have put together but i think I am finally happy. I will explain some of my selections below the side and as above I will rate anyone who gives me some feedback. Cheers

CHANGED THE TEAM A LITTLE BIT. CHANGES IN BOLD

Backs - - J. McVeigh, S. Mitchell, P. Hanley, C. Enright, S. Thompson, L.McDonald   ( T.Langdon, W. Langford)

Mids -   S.Pendlebury, D. Beams, J, Martin, D. Tyson, J. Aish, V. Michie, J. Polec, L. Dunstan  (S.Lemmens, H. Cunningham)

Rucks -  T. Hickey, A. Sandilands    (F.Thurlow, M. King)

Fowards - P. Dangerfield, D.Martin, C.Wingard, J. Westhoff, J.Roughead, C.Dixon   (Z.Merrett , J. Kennedy-Harris)

Cash Remaining -  $60 100

With this team I am hoping to have 13 Keepers. Possibly a few more if Sandi and Hickey play well. I have left the $60K as it will make it easier to upgrade the rookies to premiums. I see the team as having a smaller percentage of risks with rookies mainly only in the midfield as they should generate more cash than fwd and def rookies.

Def-  Pretty Solid Here with Only Mcdonald or the playing Rookie needing serious upgrade.

Mid- My Biggest POD. Beams and Pendles will be around all season. The rest of the rookies I am hoping to have out by round 10 as 5 of them are round 10 Byes. Hopefully they should make me some cash and the middle will be more stocked by mid-season

Rucks- The part of the side i am most worried about.  Couldn't squeeze in a solid premium however i think it is really hard to predict who the top ruckmen of the comp will be. I am happy with hickey as he should make a little cash and give me a little time to work out who to upgrade to. Not 100 percent sold on sandi however you would be crazy not to have him

Fwds- Hoping they are all keepers.. Dixon is there predominately as cover for my understrength Ruck division and I am not 100 percent sold on him so he might end up getting traded out futher in to the season.

Thanks in Advance for your thought as everything helps. If you leave a link to your side I will give my opinion

Cheers

Mate you have big plums - I like it!!

Maybe look at Kade Simpson instead of Hanley, I think he'll be a better scorer and more consistent. Can you squeeze Roughy up forward, maybe for the Hoff?

bkp130

Thanks mate for your feedback. I have had hanley in and out of the side for a while but im still not 100% sold on him however I am not sure if there are any viable options simpson included. His pre-season form did not fill me with confidence but I may change we will see.

I did also think of roughead however i think with buddy gone roughead MAY  struggle more and i think that the Hoff is a great POD and should score better than last season given I think Port will be more competitive

Thanks again for your feedback

Hey Buddy,

Thanks for rating my team!
Really unique team! Like how you have a lot of rookies in the Midfield, all are good picks. BUT ABLETT IS A MUST! My suggestion is to downgrade Swallow to Suckling, Hale/Wright to Impey and use the money to upgrade J.Martin to Ablett. Don't agree with having Wingard and Westhoff in there, both are overpriced in my opinion, would swap at least one of them for someone like Roughy. Very unique, could make or break you!

Good Luck :)

big big balls if you take this team in. personally i think your just too light in the mids, need a few premiums in there. its the engine room of every team, where the big points come from.

but if your keen on the structure then i would stick to the defence you got, 4 guns swallow will step up webster a good cheap option also.

ive though long and hard about hickey also, considering it.

id probably take 1 of westoff and wingard, and id take gunston instead of hale, even dixon if you want to keep that link

Thanks for the replies so far guys. I made a few changes and i think im pretty much set. The only thing i was tossing up was turning Merrett in to either Rohan or  McDonough however i can see both of them being vest candidates along with whichever rookie I leave at F7 and the way I look at it if they are going to be a vest candidate then i might as well save myself the 30-50K

WOW youve really stacked ur defence.

Ive done this method before where having a weak midfield, and you start off very weakly (no chance if going for overall) but you finish like a house on fire.

Its a risky method but if ur not going for overall it can be okay.

Not sure about Hickey and Westoff though. Hickey is number 1 ruck at saints but i can see them playing longer aswel seeing as their rebuillding so that will steal points off him. Westoff is just so inconsitent.

Good team if ur just going for league

maygs

Similar but braver than mine.  Set and forget Defs/Rucks/Fwds and building Mids.

Think you can do better than Simpson and Westoff tho'.

Simpson may have a slight change to his role with both Daisy and Dockerty coming in to the side.

Westoff has blinders and then fades a bit in other games.  Maybe Petrie?

I'm a bit concerned about having both Tysona nd Michie in the same team.  If Melbourne get over-run (likely) it is very unlikely they will both score well.  Maybe Robertson or Cripps??

Please rate my team:

Thanks for the advice so far guys keep it comming

I decided to get rid of simpson but i cant decide on either scott Thompson or Bartel.

Any suggestions

bkp130

Yeah i think i am leaning towards him as well. Purely as a POD although it seems like this season Bartel will be a POD

bkp130

Anyone else have any more tips before the round start tonight?

GDRAGONS

Very risky in terms of falling behind the leaders early with so many rookies in the middle not the structure id go for personally very ballsy on your behalf hope it oays off for you. Gonna want ablett at some stage will you be able to afford that upgrade.

Geez Louise light as a feather in the mids.

I can c ur strategy n it's a good one but high risk.

Honestly put in 1 more mid n swap Thompson to Suckling/Thurlow.

That's my 2 cents!! Good luck. Keep me posted with your progress

Returning the favour.

Ive seen people do the Rookie Mid sort of strategy similar to this in the past with limited success.  From what I've seen they generally fall behind in the early round to around mid season.  Im not sure if they ever quite catchup.  But hey its a new year with different (possibly fewer) decent rookies in other lines.

My problem is that I feel McVeigh is overpriced, Hanley maybe playing a more deep in defence this year (check brisbane forums), Thompson is a bit meh to me and Enright is no spring chicken.  One of the problems with filling your lines this early in the season is you dont see who breakouts as super prem in each line (eg Hanley last year), so i feel your restricting yourself by doing this a bit.

I had Hickey but traded him out because saints supporters seem to think that there could be a bit of rotation with Longer.  If you downgrade a defender to Suckling, Webster or further down to a Martin and then upgrade Hickey to a prem you can then feel that you wont need to have Dickson as your fwds will be stronger.
I also think u could downgrade a forward to a midpricer and bring Thomas in your mids.  or downgrade the forward to a rookie and bring in another prem in the mids. So your not quite so weak, but still enabling to have a high risk-reward strategy.
