Last year this was the craze in the backline with so many options and most would say it worked out pretty well, the thing I'm wondering, why is nobody going with this strategy this year, because some options are exactly the same but in the forward line, many started with the like of Pittard, Goodes and Stevenson/Heath onfield, and I see Kersten being similar to Heath, Pittard being in a similar position to Bock regarding long induring lay offs and some like Lloyd (probably bad example but oh well) being a similar matured age rook to Goodes. And like the backline there are a few good bench options too (Garlett, Nahas, McBean, Honeychurch, Rohan, LRT) who are all demanding R1 spots.

So why has this strategy not even been looked at this year?

Dunno, I've seen a few 3/3 teams around the place but with there being a bit of value in other positions people have generally had the money to pick a Franklin, Zorko, Caddy or Chapman in F4. If Laidler, Howard or Fuller don't look like getting a game then people will need to reassess their structures and cheaper forward lines may be the result of that.

It should be noted that Pittard, Goodes and Heath/Stevenson were a bloody nightmare of a combination, it's probably no surprise to see people trying to stretch their teams out more this year to avoid having as much cheap risk on the ground.

I think in the last few years defenders haven't been a trusted position apart from probably Goddard and Gibbs who were a lock in everyones team.  This year seems to be a lot more proven scoreres to choose from and more mid pricers on the line, Mitchell, McVeigh, Simpson, Swallow, Suckling.
