Thoughts?? Could he be re born with roos?

I think he will certainly improve under Roos but I just don't think he will ever become fantasy relevant. He just doesn't have the fire in the belly to ever be elite. I think there will be some games this year that he will star but there will be others where it will look as though he just can't be bothered. I'm predicting a 90 average at the most which is good but not great.

Watts will never do much in footy. :(
You can have all the talent in the world as a youngster, some blokes just never get their head right at senior level.

Agree but it would be nice to see how he goes in the 2nd Nab cup game just to see his role and the quality of his possessions he gets instead of just reading about it

Ricochet

Yeh i really need to see him in the next NAB game before I can consider him. Roos has Melbourne playing a very high possession type game so he could be very relevant.

extremely strong consideration for my side .. 1 of the players right on the verge of selection

Few quotes from the Demonland forum regarding yesterdays intra-club and Jack Watts:

"Watts: Was fantastic in the middle, got clearances, used the ball really well, was clean off the ground and was going in and getting the ball and taking the contact. He wascovering plenty of ground too. If he plays like that in the season proper, moving him to the mids will be a master stroke."

"I had two major observations from the game.  The first is that Jack Watts looked an absolute natural in the midfield and had a lot of the ball and used it very well.  He has time in the same way Travis had time. I'm not making any further comparisons but will be interested to see how he develops.  It's ironic that he was drafted as a KP forward which is what we really needed at the time but may well turn out into a quality mid which is exactly what we need."

"Must mention Jack Watts. He looked very classy. I did not see him waste a possession. He was cool and had plenty of time to choose his option."

"Watts played as a second-back mid (outside mid) and appears to have a very good understanding with Dom T who fed him a number of times. Watts disposal was excellent."

" Watts will be a star this year: he has so much time, so much skill, and the best kick at the club. He s.one will propell us into an elite midfield,"

Sounds promising but will make a call once all the NABs are over. Still need some time to accept the fact that I'm seriously considering Jack Watts.

May actually make a nice D4 POD... and DPP always help

So he killed it in an intra club game? He beat up on Melbourne players? Anyone can do that.

Watts is one of the great teasers in the AFL, he does it just about every year. As for his midfield prospects, he'll need to hardened up and win some contested ball before I consider him. I'd much rather have his team mate Grimes, or if we're talking forwards, Mitchell or Parker. Just too big a risk.

He as also quoted as being the dees 'quater-back", the go to man to feed the forwards with his great kicking.
I am hesitant as well yjough with his history and will wait for the Geelong game, but every indication I see is him a top 6 defender, around the 95-100ppg my gut feels.

I don't get all the fuss about this guy.Looks so laconic.Has potential but application is definitely lacking.Pick him at your peril.
