North Melbournes Finest

Goldstein is the best ruck in the comp, than you have Nic Nat. Anyones best guess who comes after that, Minson will have a season where he drops off just like Jamar a few years ago, Sam Jacobs and Maric last year.

Can't believe PaddyWhack has the most votes, he has to score the most pts over the yr to be the top ruck man NOT avg the most. I highly doubt he will play all yr so for me he can't be the top ruck man

auscoyote

Cox and Nicnat ;D

I think Minson will back up his good year he had last season. A sole ruckmen who gets the job done.

Ruck cover = Charlie Dixon!
How's his ankle holding though? Last preseason update I read had him injured/rehab.

The top rucks may have a lot to do with who has the least back up.

Will Daw/Brown take more ruck time off Goldy?
West at the Lions?
Hampson at Tigers?

Minson seems to be the safest bet for having most ruck time. I read somewhere he was keen to just stay on the park as much as possible with the interchange restrictions. He only has Campell as relief is that right?

I don't think Cox AND Nic-Nat will be the highest 2 if they play most of the season together. Often they both score around 100 or less or 1 has a 120 the other a 85. But if 1 gets injured (hello Nic-Nat) for a period then 1 can def be top ruck. Having said that Cox could kick a few bags with easy draw but there's Darling+Kennedy and I don't want to rely on goals.
There's so many unknowns -

How will Mummy go at GWS?
Will Lobbe live up to the hype?
McEvoy at a top club?
Will Ryder get injured?

Other than Minson who has only had 1 good year I have trouble picking who will be top. That's why I want to save money in the rucks with all the cheap options.

Goldy for the most points of the year
Nic nat for highest average

Big Boy McEvoy could be in for a good year with the Hawks. Has a good team around him and a winning culture now, only 24 y.o, could be a good POD.

An interesting question

Nic Nat underdone coming into season but IMO has the best SC scoring potential

Kruezer cant stay on the park - if you take out injury affected games (inc games coming back from Injury/sub) he averaged 115 last year.

Big Will tends to wear down his opponents and scores better in 2nd half of games - cant see him dropping much if at all

North likely to play a 2nd ruck with Goldy so expecting a drop

Luey had a good year and can improve - but will the Lions

Maric can bounce back  - I think the Tigers need him to.

Pyke might even get sole ruck duties and step up another notch again

As a punter i think the least risky bet is Big Will. My interest bet would be Kruezer.

Richmond recruited Hampson so Maric won't be ground into the turf like he was in 2012, he still has dodgy groins and the coaching staff are keen to prolong his career as much as possible. I think it will be a 60/40 split in sharing the ruck duties.

Dayze

Goldy is gonna share the ruck duties.
Zorko is going to play thru the midfield.
Ablett will play forward.

Same things every year. Goldy will b 110+ still. Safest option by a mile imo

Apparently Maric had surgery on the dodgy groin and is looking really good this preseason (but who isn't).

I'd consider locking him in if it was just Vickery that he was sharing the ruck load with. Since Hampson's come to town I think that restricts Maric's scoring potential.
