Greater Western Sydney GIANTS Co-Captain Phil Davis remains in hospital in Sydney on Monday night after injuring his kidney against the Swans last Saturday.

Davis received an accidental knock to his back during the first quarter of the game. He played out the match and was taken to hospital afterwards and has undergone treatment for his injury.

General Manager of Football Graeme Allan said: "Phil is in good care and we will continue to monitor his progress. His family is with him in Sydney and we will provide a further update when it is available."

The club has no further comment at this time.

He's still in intensive care, will stay in Sydney for another week at least

"We are pleased that he has shown some very positive signs over the past 24 hours which is encouraging for everyone," Giants' CEO David Matthews told the club's website.

"At this stage it's still hard to say how long that recovery period will be but he is progressing well and resting comfortably."

I think it'd be for the best if he spends an extra week in the reserves...

Haha nah that's really good for him, hopefully he gets through alright, but doesn't play too well

Big call if he does come back in to the 1s after 1 game in the 2s, but i would have him play another game in the 2s.

Either way he will be on the plan to Brissy

yeh it'd be interesting to know how much work he's been able to do on the training track in the last month

He's been running for nearly 8 weeks, so fitness shouldn't be an isdue- they've just been waiting for him to heal up for physical contact.

I assume that was type not time :P

Yeah, he'll be wearing a brace... I think he said it was more for psychological reasons than physical though- he's completely better.
